I wanted to start a thread on the upcoming residency program for UC Davis for Summer/Fall 2016!

Who has applied so far? What units?

Wanted to keep each other updated if we hear anything. :)

I said on the app that I wanted L&D (or postpartum)

Just signed my new hire paperwork for the Operating Room. This cohort starts on August 15th but all other units will start on August 29th.

Thank you! As far as I know, they held interviews June 23rd and 24th.

If you don't mind sharing, how many days after the reference check did you hear back about your offer? Did they email or call, and was it HR or the managers of your unit!? Thanks in advance

If anyone gets a maternity spot (there's only 2!) Please inform us! :D my references are done and I've updated the hiring managers now that I have my ATT and I've sent my thank-you card but no other communication with them. Thank you!

I interviewed for two units: TNU & OR

Here's the timeline of my application process

April 27- Applied to the UCD New Grad Nurse Residency Program

May 31- Received a call from the TNU to interview

June 14- Interviewed with Manager

June 15- Received a called from HR to complete reference check "skills survey" within 24 hours (at least email them out)

June 17- All Reference Checks completed

June 21- Offered TNU position

START DATE: August 29 (with all other hospital units)

June 4- Applied to the OR Training Program

June 16- Invited to an interview via email

June 23- Interviewed with a 3 person panel (manager, educator, and RN)

July 11- Offered position

July 12- Accepted position & went in to sign paperwork

START DATE: August 15 (specific to the OR)

I didn't have to do another reference check or background check

for the OR since I had done it for TNU (despite separate applications for each program, they are all processed under the same system)

It seems that the offer can come within a few days to a few weeks after the reference check based on the unit manager's preference.

Orangethecat, wow that's such an accomplishment to have two offers in such competitive units! Thanks for sharing your timeline. I got interviewed July 6th, reference check July 8th (they all turned it in by the 12th), and now waiting to hear back. I've looked thru past threads and it seems like A LOT of people who get to the references get in the program, but not always :/ so I'm just on edge with the waiting LOL even though its only been a week
