UC Davis RN residency program Summer/Fall 2016

I wanted to start a thread on the upcoming residency program for UC Davis for Summer/Fall 2016!

Who has applied so far? What units?

Wanted to keep each other updated if we hear anything. :)

I said on the app that I wanted L&D (or postpartum)

Just wondering if you know the format of the interview? Also is the L&D/PP combined? When HR called me, they said that it was just PP nights for me.

Jayylay, to clarify do you mean 2-3 candidates interviewing with the nurse managers, or 1 candidate and 2-3 nurse managers interviewing them? Thanks for clarifying :)

I don't know anything about the interview format, but someone else commented above from what they were told. I know some hospitals nurses rotate doing labor and pp but unsure about UCDMC. If they are interviewing multiple candidates at a time i might see you!

Hey ya'll just a little update. I had my interview today. It was me and 3 managers. For maternity new grads start off in postpartum then get trained to labor later. Start date is August 15th for pp. Not sure how many spots they have or how many candidates they're interviewing but they said they won't be done interviewing until July 20th so for those who haven't heard back yet for maternity there's still hope! I was interviewed there as well today and they told me there are two positions. Not sure how many people they are interviewing though.

marthakk, Just two!?! Oh man that sounds tough esp if they keep interviewing until 7/20 for those two spots! During the tour of the unit I kept imagining how amazing it would be to work there:)

Yeah that makes me a little nervous. I wonder how many people they're actually interviewing

Definitely feeling the same way even though they seemed very receptive and friendly during the interview. But then again everyone who interviews w them probably feels the good vibes bc the managers were very nice! I wanted to know if you caught their names? I only remember ------------------ the NM but not the 2 asst. managers. If you know please let me know I'd like to send a thank you to all 3!

Did anyone who interviewed this week get the reference check yet? I know that would be the next step in this process

I interviewed back on June 14 (i was their first interview) and I recieved a reference check email the morning of June 17 (the day after they finished conducting all interviews). Make sure to start asking 5 people if they are okay with doing a survey/writing comments so you can submit everything in time. Once the 5 people submit the emails, HR will compile the file and evalute the references. Then, it gets sent to the manager. The manager makes a decision pretty soon (mine took 2 days).
