UC Davis Nurse Residency Program- Fall 2022

Published

Hi everyone! I am applying to the UC Davis Nurse Residency Program for Fall 2022 and could not find a thread for this application period. Figured I would start one!

Where does it say that for the ED you need to have 6 months to a year experience? I thought for their new grad program they did not want you to have any experience at all?

This was a few months ago when posted, but not accessible. I screenshot it awhile back to have my friend apply. He got into this ER 3 year resident program at UCDMC ED after having more than 6m of paid RN experience,  but less than 1 year.

Was posted on their job portal. Maybe there's another ED position at UCDMC for 1 year new grads that I don't know of? But just to be transparent,  if they're requiring 6m of paid RN for the 3 year program for their ED, I would think the chances of having a 1 year for non-paid RNs are highly unlikely as you can see how they are training these for all depts of the ED, peds and adults.

wow that is helpful to know thank you. I was really hoping to get into the ER but I guess it is not going to happen.

Don’t give up hope! My friend got an ER position for the December 2021 cohort right after grad with no paid RN experience and he didn’t do his preceptorship in the ER, so it’s definitely possible!

While all things are possible,  there's so many factors to consider. Does your friend have friends in high places? What made them stand out? Volunteer work there? College/university? Family ties with someone there? I mean, while I did get interview with UCDMC,  the place that picked me was similar to my experience for my clinicals. While I understand we're all trying to be realistic and positive, it would be good to know the factors to your friend so that people aren't clinging into false hope. This is something I'll like to know about the friend too, and yes anything is possible.  Even landing a job and not applying just by connection on FB or threads.

Does anyone know if they send out rejection emails or change the status to rejected once they have chosen their cohort? My status has been routed for further consideration for over a month now with no contact at all and it would be helpful to move on if I knew that they are done interviewing.

Not sure if the new grad program will send out rejection emails or not. But I've applied to jobs at UCD for other positions and they never sent me any rejection emails. The status just changes on the portal.

Yes I did!
And I haven’t as of yet, trying to stay as positive as possible ?

I emailed them last week for an update, but no emails back. I called HR this morning and they told me that the person who emailed us for the survey will let us know or the person who interviewed us. My HR contact is out until the 28th....the email bounced and sent me to another person, but that person has not replied back to me at all.

Have you tried contacting the person who sent you the skills survey?

I just got an email followed-up by a phone offering me a position in the float pool.  Good luck everyone!

I just created this.  Won't be able to log on and add because I'm going to work now but created it for the 2022 cohort. I don't think one has been created yet.

Just received an email and follow up phone call about an hour ago! Can’t wait to get in touch with my fellow cohort :)
