Hello :)
Anyone else applying for UBC's September 2014 intake? If so, let's get through this process by communicating with each other!
Hey everyone! I received my interview invitation via email at 4:00 pm BC time! So exciting! My stats are just as varied as others and not nearly as stellar as some. I have a BSc in biology, with a cGPA of about 3.7 and a 3.8 in last ten courses. I have a mixed bag of experience including working as an admin asst for research physicians, herpetology research assistant, animal care tech, and some undergrad research projects. My volunteer experience is also diverse including a women's shelter, childcare, veterinary clinics, and a therapeutic riding program. I hope my mixed bag of GPA and experience gives hope to other applicants still awaiting an offer! I wish you all the best and hope to meet some of you at the interviews in April!
For others interviewees, how are you prepping for the MMI's? I've done a lot of reading and taking notes over the past few weeks, but still not sure how to prep for the MMI format. I realize that in some ways you can't prepare for these kind of interviews, but I did do MMI's last year for another program and feel that I could have been MORE prepared. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Hey guys!
I also received my interview invite about an hour ago, very excited! They sent it to the email address I provided in my application. nikkigee my experiences sound quite similar to yours.
I completed a BSc in Biology at UBC, my GPA for last 30 credits was around 84%, although im not sure what that translates to in GPA as UBC grades in percentages. My volunteer experiences were also mixed, from doing an internship at an HIV clinic in Malaysia, to working at a veterinary clinic, therapeutic riding centre, children's summer camp, and several jobs unrelated to healthcare at a restuarant and an insurance company. My interview date is Thurs April 10 at 11:00am so I look forward to seeing some of you there!
I'm not quite sure either how to prep for the MMI interviews, although I think the best way is too look up questions, and practice answering them in the time allowed. Also considering important competencies for nurses like communication, critical thinking, patient advocacy...etc.
Additionally, if anyone lives in Calgary and wants to get together and talk about MMIs or practice some questions I'd be happy to meet up :)
