Heya! The amount of people they take in fluctuates depending on funding, how many applicants they receive, etc. Looking at passed years, it seems to be around 135-140 that they take in. However, for the this Winter term, they only took in 112 applicants so perhaps the Fall in take will also be cut. For this term, there were only 30/112 seats reserved for transfer students. Last Fall in-take, the cut off GPA was 3.56. If the number of seats is decreased then the cut off GPA will be higher than that. Since the deadline is March 1, there won't be too much information on seats and GPA until probably June or July. Try giving them a call at the end of this term or visit the Nursing advisor's office. She will be able to give you a better answer. Good luck!!!

I haven't checked lately but I just received the big red x on myuofc tonight so I guess it doesn't matter anymore. It only really bothers me that they took this long Oh well, I just hope UBC accepts me >.

Hiya! Thanks for responding! I have a few more questions if you are able to answer! What exactly are they looking for ''working with others''? I mean most, if not all of us work with others ALL the time. I'm not really sure how to answer it! Also, for ''interests and other hobbies,'' how would I answer that? Does it have to specifically pertain to nursing or do we simply write down what they are? I've finished my raft draft of my supplemental application and I assume that we somehow have to relate our answer with nursing, am I correct? Sorry for all the questions! Also, I am unfamiliar what UBC's grading scale. My GPA would be 3.23, what percent would that be? Hopefully I make competitive average!

Hi! I just wanted to revive this thread. I sent in my UBC application and I am currently working on my supplemental application. Being a young person, the questions are slightly overwhelming. It seems like they can really only be answered by someone who has a lot of life experiences. I was just wondering how everyone else was answering them. For the life experiences and accomplishments section, I am not really sure what to put since I am so young. Like, does moving countries and surviving bullying count? And how are they supposed to be answered? I'm kind of writing them point form, but each point is essentially a paragraph, and I am describing everything in detail (300 words is so little!). Has anyone called recently for the GPA cut-off?

For Anatomy, the best way to really study is to print out pictures from the internet and label the parts. Use multiple photos at different angles for the same part of the body so you absolutely know it. If you have a cadaver lab like I did, make sure you really spend time studying the bodies (even if it stinks!) and refresh your memory for the previous week's lab. There a plenty of youtube videos with people explaining the parts of the body on cadavers too. For Physiology, if you're a visual person like I am, youtube videos really help. They come in handy especially for the renal, pulmonary and GI physiology. Another handy trick I learned was using the speech function on my mac to listen to my notes (in conjunction with reading). If you don't have a mac, I'm sure there are similar online programs. Good luck!

Heya! I'm waiting to hear back from the UofC for their program. It seems like it's becoming increasingly difficult to get into a Nursing program unless you enter directly from high school or already have a degree. I'm currently trying to transfer into a Nursing program with 2 years of university work. I've emailed pretty much all the second-entry nursing programs in canada and they all essentially said that applicants with degrees were ''more likely'' to be accepted that those without (presumably because of experience and wanting individuals with diverse backgrounds) As for your question, although I have not been admitted to a program, after researching and emailing advisors, I would say you have a pretty good chance of getting into UofT. The advisor said that it's very competitive and most applicants have degrees already. The advisor also said the competitive GPA is generally around a B but closer to a B+. UofT's program doesn't have an interview process so your supplemental application pretty much has to sell it. You seem to have a lot of experience already which is what they look for in an individual. Just make sure the prerequisite courses you're taking transfer into the school, especially the anatomy and physiology component. Anyway, good luck!!

Hiya! I also applied to the BNTR Winter 2014 route. Here's what I know... 1) There are only 30 seats: I thought there would be more students being let in the transfer route. I guess I really should have asked first (WE ARE COMPETING FOR ONLY 30 SEATS WITH HIGHLY QUALIFIED APPLICANTS). If you look in your myuofc portal and search for the NURS 285/287/288/289 courses, you'll notice that there are 112 spaces available indicating that the degree holders and transfer students will be taking terms 3-7 together then diverging at term 8 with the degree holders graduating first. 2) The initial GPA cut off was 3.7, then lowered to a 3.5, then a 3.4 3) The cut off GPA is higher this year than previous in takes for the same term: This really shocked me because the previous GPAs were much lower. I can't find the page anymore, it was probably deleted, but it said that last year, around this time the GPAs for both the transfer and degree holder route were lowered to ~3.3-3 then ~2.8-3 at the end of the month. I guess the applicant pool this year was just much more competitive than previous years and/or more applicants with higher GPAs applied because of the supposed ''nursing shortage.'' 4) They either seem to be slower at admitting people this year or those offered seats are slower at accepting or declining them. After all, those of us on hold will stay on hold until seats become open aka people responding to their offers. As stated before 30/30 seats have been offered and only degree holders have open seats left. If all the seats have been filled (accepted), then the advisor said that those of us on hold will have a ''cancelled' or ''x'' on our myuofc page. I just hope we are notified within the next week or so. I need to know if I'll have to apply to other schools and/or take a few more courses for the prerequisite courses/credits for other programs. Anyway, we shall all find out our status soon. They let in quite a bit of students this week so I suspect we're nearing the end-phase of the admission stage. On a side note, I think I'll just wait to be accepted/denied instead of hassling the faculty. The advisors have become snappy/sassy and even rude in emails and they generally don't answer my questions in full, leave out important information or are just really ambiguous (they're probably tired of receiving the same questions from others so I can't really hold it against them). Does anyone know if you can find what ''place'' you are on the hold list? Anyone here apply last year? If so, was the admission process similar? I was initially accepted into the 4 year program after high school but I deferred it in favour of UofA. WHOOPS. Anyway, I am prepared to sacrifice the young of 3 lambs and bathe in blood of newborn sheep if it means getting accepted. *JUST LOWER IT 1.7 MORE POINTS* Good luck everyone!
