UBC September 2014 Applicants

Hello :)

Anyone else applying for UBC's September 2014 intake? If so, let's get through this process by communicating with each other! :nailbiting:

I know that at least one of my references was contacted before being invited to the interview, so I have to think others were as well. We were told that our acceptance would be 100% based on our interview. Everything before (marks and supplemental) was just to get to the interview stage.

Oh really your references were contacted? Neither of mine were contacted :s Now I'm worried!

I just hate that after the interview I felt confident, and as the days go on and the more I keep thinking about it the more I pick apart my answers!! Now I have no idea how I did and just need to know ASAP. Everyone that was in my interview group seemed so intelligent and smart - it will be really close I think once you get to this level. Hopefully we all stood out in some way (but for good reasons)! If anyone hears of anything please let us know.

During the interview they said they very rarely contact reference EVER

if you think about it they interviewed 190 applications and we had to give 2 references...they just don't have time.

I wouldn't worry about your references being contacted or not, one they got to the interview stage everyone is on an even playing field so anything in the supplemental application doesn't matter after that. I don't think either of mine were contacted, maybe they only contacted them if they needed clarification or to verify something in the supplemental? But regardless it seems like we should be hearing back soon so try not to stress too much and good luck everyone! :)

Guess I got the lucky reference check then! But as Kiawa said, I'm pretty sure they are only used to get you to the interview. The only way to go from 190 applicants to 120 is by interview scores.

Well, it's now May 6th - has anyone heard any news ( good or bad)? Everytime I hear my phone alert me of a new email I can't help but check it almost right away!

Hi everyone! Just received my acceptance email from UBC!! So excited and relieved that the waiting is over!

Hope to be seeing many more acceptance posts from all of you! This forum has been invaluable in helping with the whole application process - thanks to everyone for contributing!

Yup, they're sending them now. I just got my acceptance email as well!
