Hey guys! I just wanted to start this post for anyone applying for the 2022 cycle for UBC nursing. Just wondering where everyone is coming from and their experiences.

I was actually referring to the Summer before applying, sorry I didn't make this clear enough. I am planning to apply for Winter 2023 and I was wondering if my Summer 2022 courses would count.

Curious about what everyone's Plan B is? And how are you all playing the nursing school game?
For myself, I have a seat at Sprott Shaw in May ( wait, wait, please read my reasons..)
I'm old, and HS was 20+ years ago, and I didn't take any sciences; I was a history student...I don't have bio 12/chem 11, but I have physic 11 not relevant. This is my second career, I was a power engineer (building operator) before the pandemic, I have been working on pre-recs @ Athabasca since Jan 2021. Public colleges have their individual pathways, While UBC and BCIT accept my HAP course KPU, VCC, Langara and Douglas won't, BCIT I would need to take chem 11, and I feel just done, SS will accept my math/English, and HAP course and then I can go on to bridge at Athabasca...that's my story..It's more complicated cause I have serve dyslexia. SS is not happy about I feel there wouldn't have taken me on if they had known.
now you know everything, just curious where others are in this journey!

Thanks for sharing your story! I can somewhat relate, as I'm "old" as well ? I graduated from high school in Germany in 2003 and completed my degree there in 2008. I then worked a couple of years in long-term and palliative care before I came to Canada in 2014. Here, I completed an apprenticeship as a pastry chef, but the hospitality industry is just awful. I wanted to get out of it for so long, but was never "brave" enough to enrol in any academic classes because I thought I wouldn't do well anyways as non-native speaker. Then, when Covid hit, I thought "now or never" and signed up for the prerequs. at BCIT. So if this works out, it's gonna be my third career path.
As for my plan B...I'm thinking a lot about it, but did not make a decision yet. Generally I wouldn't mind going to school another four years, at the same time, however, I feel like I'm running out of lifetime; half my life is lived after all, and as female I'm also thinking about whether or not to have kids. There's so much to consider and that makes it so hard to decide because I'm not getting younger.
So, not sure... I was thinking about taking more classes, or maybe try to start with LPN or HCA and this way "dig my way in". It's just so hard to decide...
Don't let anybody get in your way and don't beat yourself up! My brother is dyslexic as well and he is an excellent engineer! Have faith in yourself!
Good luck to you! ?

Hehehe, oh, pastry chef...OMG, my new best friend!
And you'll find your way, though, for HCA, you apply to challenge the exam after the first clinical in most cases; even if you are taking the LPN route, you usually need a letter from your instructor and so many clinic hours to test and get on the list. If I go the LNP route, I'm not certainly going to bridge..maybe even a masters or sometime?
for now, we all have to sit a wait...and see,
So I'm hoping in April, everyone will post if they got a letter of acceptance or are waitlisted and we can live through them or be one of them!

Thanks for the info! I certainly have to find out more about all that before making a move.
I will update you when I get a message from admissions!
