Hey!

Just wanted to start this for anyone looking to apply to the 2020 cycle for UBC accelerated nursing. Let's share what we'll be applying with and any other info :).

Hi everyone!! This is my second time applying, I ranked in the top 50% for my supplemental last year, grades and CASPR ranked top 75%.

Hi! last year I ranked in the top 24% for my supplemental and 50% for my CASPer. Hoping to get in this year!

Hey! You have a great profile and GPA!

Did they contact your references? Are you changing anything this time round? Have you completed your degree?

Hey!

They didn't contact my references. I'm rewriting some of my supplemental application, and I've done more volunteer work as well. I completed my associates degree since last applying.

Hey Gemini11 !!

If you don't mind me asking, what were you applying with in terms of GPA? and experience? Did you change anything this year? Are you done your degree?

My GPA was around 3.0, my experience was pretty much all over the place but I had a lot of overseas experience since I lived in the Middle East for a while, I have worked in senior homes, daycares and refugee camps and have volunteer experience at hospitals. What I found helpful while writing the supplemental was to relate everything back to nursing, and how the skills I learned would make me a good nurse. I graduated UBC with a psychology degree so this year I focused on jobs relating to that (working with kids as a behavior interventionist). I think they took CASPR very seriously last year that really determined getting in/on the waitlist for a lot of people so I am also focusing on better preparing myself for that.

Those rankings are incredibly good well done! Honestly i'm shocked those scores didn't get you a spot on the waitlist, just goes to show how competitive the program is, every year is different I hope we all get in this time around! Are you applying from the states if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Everybody,

This is my first time applying to UBC, UBC is my first choice but I am also applying to BCIT, Langara, & Douglas.

I graduated from SFU with a degree in Health Sciences cGPA 3.6, I was accepted into the Foundations program at Douglas and will complete this in December GPA 3.7. Really hoping that I will be accepted.

This is probably a dumb question but what is the likelihood of them looking at my application if I'm just below the minimum admission grades? (ie. 70% minimum but I have 69%) But I have a lot of work and volunteer experience in the hospital.

Are they lenient with the grades if you have a stellar supplemental application?

No dumb questions here! They will look at any application that is submitted, don't quote me on it but I'm pretty sure that they would be lenient especially since you are so close to the minimum, and you have lots of experience! good luck!

Hi Hallsmini,

I am certain all applications are given consideration. In reading through the previous boards it is clear that there are people who have stellar grades but for whatever reason they don’t get in. I think you have equal opportunity so don’t fret. You do have time to repeat a class before the deadline of June 15th to raise a mark. Good luck to you!

I am applying from Washington state but I am a Canadian citizen so I'm not considered an international student.

Has anyone applied yet?? I plan to this weekend. Do we get the supplemental questions afterwards?

Hey there, I've already applied, plus submitted my supplemental and done my CASPer. You will get an email that tells you that the supplemental is available after you submit the UBC application.

I am currently a 3rd-year Science student at SFU. I'm debating whether I should apply to UBCV or UBCO this cycle (can only apply to one).

I've completed over 80 credits and currently have a cGPA of 3.97 but my last 2 semesters haven't gone well (my cGPA was above 4.00 before) so I think when UBC calculates my marks it will come to 81% average.

I've volunteered at one of SFU's labs for 8 months, volunteered at the hospital for 15 months, and worked as a tutor for 4 months.

I think I probably don't have any chances this year. I'm thinking I should just apply to UBCO. Thoughts?

It kind of sucks to go into 4 years after already doing 3 years at university but it's probably better to get into a program rather than not, right?

I am also applying to TRU and UFV.
