Hi all,
I was just wondering if anybody is also applying to the UBC Nursing program this year for the 2009 intake...and also, for those that are in the program, or have graduated from the program, would you kindly please tell me what the program is like, as well as your admission average (based on the 30 credits that UBC Nursing looks at) and your supplemental application...to better prep myself for the application process.
thanks in advance.
hey guys!
congrats to all those who have been accepted to the program, and to those of you who have not, don't give up!!!
a couple questions for those of you who have been accepted:
1. have you recieved anything in the mail regarding courses? i have not..
2. have you guys registered for classes online? if so.. how??
thanks! and i look forward to meeting you guys!
Hi Orca,
Congrats on getting in :) I did recieve a large envelope filled with info on immunization, where to order UBC scrubs, registration, and also an outline of the entire program (in regards to the sequence of clinicals for each group). Have you recieved this yet? And did you pay the 250 deposit online already? Because I think if you did then you should have recieved this envelope. Also, if you log into your CWL account, you will find your registration time for your classes. They have online tutorials if you need it. It's very easy. Pretty much we have standard time tables for Nursing, so all you have to do is click on which group you want!
I hope I didn't forget anything, but if you have any other questions, I might be able to help :)
bye!
Hi guys,
An update...wow I haven't been on here for so long. Anyway, it turned out that I was mistaken about the mix up, so my bad. And I recently got off the waitlist, so that's a plus =)
And Orca, I received the info about registration and immunization and scrubs via email...but in the email, it said that the original copy comes in the mail, so you may be receiving the email sometime soon. As lazz1 already mentioned, registration is simple--pick a STT that is not full and register in it. Hope to see you all in September!
hi guys!
thanks so much for your promt replies :) oddly i haven't recieved the email or the package ...
i did however pay the $250 deposit and i accepted my offer online.
i will try to select my classes by logging into the cwl and see what happens. otherwise, hopefully someone will pick up their phone on monday and i can ask them what's up.
have a nice weekend :)
Congrats to everyone who made it off the wait list! I'll see you in September too!
Orca, I got my e-mail a day after I handed in the two forms that needed to be signed, and 2 days after I paid my deposit. As for the Standard Timetables, you can see the groups' schedules & textbooks at: http://www.nursing.ubc.ca/current_students/class_schedules_and_textbooks.htm.
P.S. Does anyone know when we pay the $150 for the immunization review? When we go to Student Health Services, or we pay it to the Faculty?
I have no idea if anyone still checks this thread, but where do you guys buy the shoes that we need for our clinical rounds? For BCIT, I know a medical supplies company goes to their school and have a "business hour" for their students to purchase shoes, but anything like that for UBC?
I'm having difficulties finding a place in the Lower Mainland that actually sells nursing shoes that fits UBC requirements. There are tons on the internet, but for shoes... I'd like to try them on before I purchase. Any help would be great!

Hey SimplicityGirl,
Looks good and professional. If you need "strength in numbers", you can also mention that other applicants are aware of this situation as well, and are also curious about the admission process.
Best of luck to you! I'm sure they will provide you with a professional response, and hopefully we'll be able to put this issue to rest soon.
