Published

Hi everybody! I haven't found an active discussion thread for September 2019 applicants to UBC's BSN program yet, so here is one!

Same! I had no idea what STT was initially. You just click 'Browse' on the registration section and then click 'BSN' and add it to your worklist.

So, I'm able to get there. I see a list at the top of different courses (with links to view their descriptions) and then at the bottom it says "Term 1 STT" and a bunch of random courses chosen and then "Term 2 STT" and a bunch of random courses. So is it where I can't chose any courses or how they are laid out, I just have to register for the one option shown and just chose add to my worklist? I don't need to pick and chose things? Everyone is forced to have the exact same layout?

All UBC BSN students take the same courses, you can't choose specific courses or times. So yeah, you just have to register yourself in the standard schedule. The times listed for the STT are also not 100% accurate apparently. We will have more information on our actual schedule closer to the beginning of the semester.

Nope you don't need to choose any courses individually! Just save that whole thing to your worklist at the top right corner! Near your registration time just click that worklist and you'll have an option at the bottom of the page to 'register all courses'

Does anyone know whether we pay the full tuition amount (~$7000) before Sept 4? Or can we pay the term 2 tuition fee by January 2020?

Not sure how it works, at SFU we only registered for 1 semester at a time

They wont tell you, but the date for paying tuition is kinda flexible. Anything past the third week of september or firstish of October you’ll start collecting interest ($35/month).

I think someone already mentioned, but yup you pay term 2 tuition & fees (upass) in September.

@sss29 If you’re on student loans, you have the option to apply for a 17-week Term 1 loan (that’s Sept-Dec) and then a 17-week Term 2 loan (you apply in Oct/Nov for Term 2 Jan-April student loans). I’m a current UBC student and was fine paying each term at a time. Even if you’re not on loans, you should be ok! I would pay Term 1 tuition with my Term 1 loan, then Term 2 tuition with my Term 2 loan, and so on (you’ll see “September Installment” and “January Installment” are separate tuition amounts in your financial summary). Of course, call UBC if you’re not sure!

For example, the dates on the left indicate when fees are due. Once Student Aid BC confirms your loans, the tuition payment deadlines get pushed back to the next month ? I’m saying all this just in case you/other people are applying for loans!!

Thank you so much @mb96!!! I think i'll pay one term at a time since I applied for a student loan from sept-dec 2019

Do I have to be registered in order to see that information? I'm having trouble finding it.

Nope you don't have to be registered! Just google 'UBC BSN textbook list' and click the first link, scroll down and click 'program textbook list' and the 2019 one should be there!
