    UBC 2020 Nursing

I applied having earned a previous Bachelors, graduating in May 2019 from UBC and 9X% in last 30 credits (can't remember, sorry). I couldn't tell you where I stood with my supplemental application or CASPer because I was directly admitted so I didn't receive those stats from the SON. My cohort is amazing - super supportive and encouraging! BUT... Not going to sugar coat it... The program itself is disorganized and a logistical nightmare (e.g., clinical placements, lab times, receiving references/confirmations from the school, fees that weren't explicit, etc.). However, I wouldn't want to spend another 3+ years doing a bachelors so I find this is the quickest way out!

The scam scenario honestly sounds like it could be a casper prompt 😂

I read a book about the casper which helped a little. It gave me the basis of how to create a “formula and system” and what a “good answer” would look like. I did a lot of timed practice questions. After the time was up I re-read my answers with my sibling and kinda rewrote it and added anything that would be crucial. I also made a list of all possible scenarios and typed answers. For example “time I displayed leadership, time I displayed compassion, ethical dilemma I faced” just so it was on the tip of my tongue and routine if I came across questions like that. Overall I did prep a lot for the casper. But that’s just cause I was super nervous and felt what I lacked in my supplemental I can make up with the casper.

I’d say go where you want to *stay and live* That way, when you do your preceptorship and avenue you can easily be hired at that specific hospital once you grad. I’m not sure about the length of the other program, but if acceleration is a factor then definitely consider the trade off. As a Vancouver resident, the housing prices here are ridiculous which will only add to your student loans (if you are taking one out) and burden you once you grad. Honestly, write out a pros and cons list and see where your heart stands at the end of it. Congrats and best of luck!

A lot of people also apply for nursing as a backup to medicine. UBC med admissions go out tomorrow so you’ll never know! Here’s to hoping people get accepted and withdraw their application, moving you up 🙂

No news is good news? I’m assuming if we didn’t get the waitlist email it’s either a rejection or acceptance. Ah the nerves!!!

I think what impressed me the most when reading your comment was the fact that you’ve done your research and know that she works M-T. Here’s to hoping we find out tomorrow hahah!

Usually Ubc offices close around 5 so I’m sure it’s safe to assume that emails won’t be sent out today? Eeekkk I have that self doubt too. I’ve been feeling super down and uneasy about it. We’ll see though 😕
