UBC BSN September 2015 Applicants

Published

Alright who's applying to the UBC Vancouver BSN September 2015 intake? I'm a second year UBC science student who's applying :) Let's all support and communicate with each other for registration help and processing !

well, good luck! hopefully we hear back this week! Sounds like you and I are very much in similar situations, haha, perhaps we will even be in school together!

Hey everyone!

I am anxiously awaiting the news with all of you! I just joined this forum so hopefully I will be able to connect with more of you in September!

I live in Vancouver so if any of you want any advice about the city, let me know! (I know some of you are out-of-towners).

Has anyone else been looking at possible housing situations? I'd be moving to Vancouver if I get in and from what I've been looking at.. getting a 2 bedroom place with roommates is much cheaper than trying to get a 1 bedroom place. Any interest? Or are you all already local Vancouverites :)

Hey Ashlee88 I live in BC but I'm about an hour and a half drive from UBC in traffic. I plan on moving into Vancouver for the program and would love to find some roommates!

I'm kind of in the same boat but maybe rowing to a different shore? ;) I've been accepted to Langara and have been weighing the pros and cons of both programs ... I am actually leaning towards Langara. UBC is obviously the "quicker" route but it seems like you get so much more hands on experience, time to study, ability to keep work part time, and the opportunity to work as ESN through the college programs. UBC seems like it would be a good choice if your long term plan is to continue to a Masters and research?

What is the big draw to UBC for you?

I already have a Masters of Public Health so I don't want to do more years of school if I don't have to. If your thinking of specializing anyways you don't really need the ESN experience since nurses are in such demand ( I already have a job partially lined up for when I grad). And after talking to students I actually almost think it's easier to work one day a week in the UBC program compared to the BCIT one. I know students that work while day a week while attending UBC nursing.

I think it just comes down to how much you want from and program and what your confidence in your skill set is like. I think BCIT is a better program overall. But I feel like I have enough experience that I don't need everything the BCIT has to offer in order to get to where I want.

so they sent back replies... i didn't get in. Best of luck to everyone else though.

Has anyone else heard anything yet?

nope. I keep refreshing. So nervous!

I am actually surprised they decline people cause I vaguely remember them saying they just waitlist you.. and if the spot opens up.. you get contacted..

hmm maybe I heard wrong.

They do a ranked waitlist of 30 or so but then the rest of the applicants are declined outright. Yea, I'm stressing a bit. haha.

Just got my admission offer this afternoon! Excited to meet everyone in the class!

I got my acceptance letter too!!!!! Can't wait to meet everyone in the fall!!!!

Me too.. I got my offer earlier today :) Excited for September!
