UAH fall 2015 admission hang-out thread

Published

I spoke to (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) yesterday, and she stated that our determination letters will get mailed out by the end of this week. I'm dying to know if I got in or not, and I'm sure the rest of you are too. I'd be really curious to hear from anybody that received an early letter already!

Yes, i knew it matter on the nursing application but i didnt think I'd be able to apply for the honors college. Hmm.. i dont think I'd even want to do that! Nursing school is already going to be tough!

The honors college really doesn't do anything for you once you're in the nursing program. The new Nursing Honors College that they just established basically serves as a guarantee to incoming freshmen that when their two years of prerequisites are completed, they'll have a slot held for them in upper division. Once last year's freshmen get to next year, it's going to get even harder for transfer students to snag a seat. Be glad we missed that!

There are some stipulations that go along with it. Students have to maintain a 3.5 I think? There are merit scholarships that go along with it too, but I'm not sure how much they're worth.

The general honors college has its own dorm building, and there are some prereq classes that have an honors section, but I have no idea how they differ from the normal ones. Nor do I particularly care, since I live off campus.

And yes, you are correct: none of your transfer courses will affect your GPA at UAH. The moment you walk through Charger Central for orientation, your new GPA is a whopping 0.0

I got into the honors college... I'd graduate with a certificate in honors just from the honors classes in upper division. It's basically the same classes with one thesis class added on, but I'm planning to get a masters eventually, so I figured why not learn to write an essay in nursing school?

slaneyder THAT explains why my UAH transcripts keep saying my gpa is a 0! lol I couldn't figure that out. But that early promotion thing isn't just for honors students. You have to maintain a 3.25 gpa in the honors college. But the honors college dorm is also shared with nursing majors. They said it was something like second floor is for nursing and first floor is for honors or something like that. I didn't care because either way, I'd fall into both. lol

Yea, im bummed about that because my gpa at calhoun is 3.7! I hope I will be able to make those good grades at uah too!

Yeah...I'm good on all that. I kinda feel like your GPA will speak for itself if you're applying for an advanced degree. I can see how the thesis course would be helpful, though!

WOOT WOOT 3.7 gpa crew! lol. I'm bummed about that too. I kinda hoped I might be able to use nursing school to boost it up or vice versa. I keep reading to expect Bs, but I'm SO not a B type student. I'm not fond of study groups, but I'm not great at studying alone. Anyone wanna make a study group before we get started? lol

I'm in! Well...I mean I'm in if I'm in. That damn letter is taking its sweet time....

Now we'll just have to figure out a way to recognize each other at nursing orientation, since it's against the TOS to identify ourselves, right?

We could...umm...I don't know. Print out our avatars and wear them like buttons? Because that wouldn't be weird or anything.

Or have signs like at the airport? lol What if we all just meet and start talking then one of us is like "sooooo... ever used allnurses.com?"

Oh wait...I'm an idiot. There's a PM feature, right? We'll just coordinate a meetup at ori.

I r smrt, I promise....

Any letters today??

I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm desperately awaiting my letter as well!
