UAB AMNP 2017

Published

Hey everyone! I'm currently a student at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. I graduate this December and I'll be applying to UAB's AMNP program this Fall for the Spring 2017 class! I hope this group/thread can be used to help each other out through the application process. Also, to anyone currently in the AMNP program, please don't hesitate to drop in and share your application experience! :)

I guess maybe for interviews? lol not sure. If I get an email or anything I will let you know!

I got an email saying they received my application but that's it :( let me know if you get anything! What were your stats if you comfortable with sharing them?

Sure! I have a little above a 3.2 GPA. Either way I took the GRE because I was applying to other schools, however my scores were nothing crazy. I have worked in the medical field for about 6 years as a CNA on a orthopedic/ trauma floor and now I'm a burn tech for a NP at a children's hospital. Uh but that's about it lol. I didn't shadow because I worked with Np's and I don't really have volunteer hours. But don't worry I'll let you know if I hear back! Either way stay positive its still really early!

That's great! I think the CNA experience will definitely push you over the edge. :) I'm definitely trying to stay as positive as possible! You do the same!

Anyone know how many seats are available?

The woman who led the interest meeting made it clear that there wasn't a set number of spots and that they've already had so many applicants that they are going to possibly expand.

Thats interesting. Did she say when the first group will be notified?

Nope. :( she said we should find out around October... Where all did you apply?

Im applying to UAB Son, Emory, And Barry . wbu? Im still in college graduating in December also waxing off some prereqs over the summer .

I'm only applying to UAB for this application cycle. I also will be graduating in December, so I haven't had time to take the GRE yet, and UAB allows you to waive it if you have a certain GPA. If I don't get in, I will be applying to Emory and Vandy in the Fall!

Im extremely nervous .... We have so much time untill we even find out . A representative came from UAB Son to my college career fair she told they were doing tons a recruiting for this program. Im not shocked about there being so many applicants .

I'm nervous too! I was hoping there would be more people on this thread that I could talk to about it because I'm talking my friends ears off and they don't really understand haha.
