UA MEPN 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone,

I'm considering MEPN application to the UofA next year. I've been in touch with the advisor, Chris Sogge, for the past 3 years. I have a B.S. in Computer Science and a M.Sc. in Biology from Canada . Chris said that I need a pre-req GPA of 3.7 at least to get into the program; mine is 3.3. Do I stand any chances? Did anyone get in with lower pre-req grades? I'm trying to juggle pre-req taking with a toddler. Thanks so much for your advice!

Marina.

That’s exactly what I think happened. I thought they would verify them as they came in but nope they waited till they had all of them. Weren’t you the one who told me about this page lol. Brooke from our micro class got into the BSN program! ❤️

Hmm. Ok, well that makes sense. Ha! Yes, I did but remember when I showed it to you there were very few interactions on this year's application page? I thought no one was using it. Yay, for Brooke!!

haha it has just picked up on the last week. I assume it will get a lot more traffic now as we all “patiently” wait to see if we got and interview then if we got in. On the slides from the info session it said we would be notified two weeks before the interview if we got an interview or not so that’s still another month away!

Hey all! I have a couple questions:

Does anyone know how + and - are calculated into last 60 and prereq GPAs? I.e. are A+, A-, and A all considered 4.0?

Also I feel like I heard that interviews would be conducted on February 1st, but does anyone know the exact date?

Thanks! Happy Holidays and fingers crossed for everyone in the admissions process!

They do not look at + or - an A is an A (4.0). Feb 1 is the interview date. I received and email from UofA a couple days ago saying they’ve received my application from NCAS and in the email it also said Feb 1 and that we will find out mid Jan if we did or didn’t get an interview (we will get an email either way)

Thanks Jeanette! I got an email a couple days ago saying I needed to update my transcripts in NCAS. No surprise since Pima conveniently ended the semester the day after the application was due. And then waits a week for the semester grades to post to official transcripts.?‍♀️

Hi all, current MEPNer here! Wanted to offer my congrats on getting through NursingCAS and share this interview sheet I used to help prepare. The current cohort will be available to you after your interview for questions, or if you want to just sit down with us and decompress for a minute ?Good luck and see you at interview day!!

Anyone else checking their email more often already? Now that the holidays are over, I am anxious to hear about interviews!

I'm guessing we will hear back mid to late next week. But part of me is hoping end of this week because I need to be put out of my misery.

Hahah I know how you feel. I’ve been keeping busy listening to Pathophysiology podcasts trying to get ahead in case I actually get in lol.
