UA MEPN 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone,

I'm considering MEPN application to the UofA next year. I've been in touch with the advisor, Chris Sogge, for the past 3 years. I have a B.S. in Computer Science and a M.Sc. in Biology from Canada . Chris said that I need a pre-req GPA of 3.7 at least to get into the program; mine is 3.3. Do I stand any chances? Did anyone get in with lower pre-req grades? I'm trying to juggle pre-req taking with a toddler. Thanks so much for your advice!

Marina.

Hahah I know how you feel. I’ve been keeping busy listening to Pathophysiology podcasts trying to get ahead in case I actually get in lol.

Any good ones you want to share??

“Biology 3020” Pathophysiology by Doc C. I downloaded them all and have been listening to them whenever I’m in the car. It has been good since a lot of it is just a refresher from A&P so it’s keeping me up on my A&P.

Free Parking on Saturdays (usually)

Happy 2020!!!

Free parking in the lot closest to CON (Martin and Mabel) outside of business hours of M-F 7 to 5 and football/basketball games. There is not a game on Feb 1.

Anyone else checking their email more often already? Now that the holidays are over, I am anxious to hear about interviews!

Hello everyone! I am applying as well! I didn't know a thread like this existed and I am happy it does. I have been communicating with Chris over the last few days and he mentioned to me that they hope to be done reviewing all the applicants by January 17th, hopefully sooner.

Anyone know of the stats of accepted applicants for the 2019 cohort? I was looking, but didn't see any recent ones. I know this year is different with the holistic review, but I want to be competitive with GPA's still.

Wow those are some really low “lowest” scores. I imagine this year w the wholistic admission all those stats will be lower too.

I bet! However, I remember Chris did say that the weights are similar with GPAs and the HESI. The additional healthcare, community and leadership experiences are "bonus" points to the application.

Awesome. Thank you!

The diploma says Master of Science. It is not a full blown MSN since this is an "entry program." Once graduated, you'd be able to obtain a full MSN by taking a few classes at any school that is willing to take a look at your transcript in detail. With this degree you are more likely to be considered for a doctoral program, given that you possess the necessary experience. Good luck.
