I read about applying for nclex. I found out that I can't apply for my nclex because I still don't have my U.s security number. Is that true? I want to apply for nclex this June. But I can't because I still don't have it. Can you help me about it? What is good to do so that I can apply now?

You cannot apply until you have one; the Social Security number is required to process your application (background checks, etc) and be issued a license to work in the US. You cannot skip over this.

You cannot get a social security number unless you are citizen, permanent resident or have a valid work visa. You do not need a SSN to apply to take the NCLEX but many states require to apply for a nursing license by examination, the NCLEX is but one step in the process.
You should be aware that the credential assessment for an IEN can take 3 to 6 months. Most state BoN's require that you have your credentials assessed by CGFNS.

You can further Google search on "How to Obtain a SSN" or try clicking on to the other tabs on the above link. Good luck!

Some of my colleagues did this already without SSN. If I'm not mistaken, they need to process the visa screen, one of my friend did this years ago, I might be wrong, or policies might have changed over the years but you can contact the state that you want to apply for NCLEX -RN. Here in Washington State, they will allow you given that you need to provide the SSN as soon as you have it like within a year. That's what I know so far, but you can always ask the prospective BON :)

Depends on the state you are applying to to whether a US SSN is required or not
