TWU Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi!

I haven't seen a thread made for the TWU Spring 2018 application process, so decided to start one! I'm the type to worry, and I know I'm not alone, so what better place to vent than here? For anyone wondering, the application date for Spring 2018 is August 15th, 2017!

My GPA comes out to a 3.720 with TWU preference. I haven't taken my TEAs yet, but plan to soon.

How about y'all?

Hello!

I just finished my TEAS and will be sending in my application though NursingCas today for Houston.

My stats:

Nursing Core GPA: 3.480

Prereq GPA: 3.551

TEAS: 87.3

Points with prior bachelor bump: 49.43

I have seen people with points as low as 41.33 get accepted in the previous Spring and Fall semesters. I hope that my stats are good enough for this cycle; however, it will ultimately depend on the applicant pool.

Also, does anyone know how to get a transcript evaluation? I heard that it was possible, but I do not know how to properly request for one.

Thanks!

Hey, everyone!! I'm applying for TWU Dallas Spring 2018. My stats are:

Nursing Core GPA: 4.0

Pre-req GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 87.3%

No bump or previous bachelor's.

I'm hoping this is enough to get in and that I will get to meet all of you wonderful people!

You should input your numbers into the spreadsheet to see where you stand in terms of points. :)

Doesn't seem high enough for the Dallas campus; really wish I had that TWU bump lol

Wondering if I should retake the TEAS but I don't know if it'd be worth the time and money to maybe raise my grade by a point or two, if I'm luckyí ½í¸œ

Since we both received the same score, I will offer two suggestions as to why I decided not to retake the test.

1. The questions are randomized. Unless you've recently taken prereqs like AP1&2 and English, you wont have a solid enough reservoir of knowledge to readily draw answers from. (unless you have a very good memory and can recall facts from years ago).

2. Only the most recent score will count, not the better one.

With that being said, if you are confident that you can master the corresponding section of topics that you've missed (on top of the one you've already mastered), then I say go for it.

I wish it wasn't so hard for transfer students with no preferences to get in the Dallas program. :( I should be happy about scoring in the 97th percentile; instead, I'm considering retaking it lol. Such is life. :) I'm sure you'll get into the Houston program, though!! My friend is currently a student there and loves it. A slightly less competitive campus - wish I could relocate!

Does anyone know when we find out we've been accepted? I know I'm asking way too early, but I'm just so excited!

Also, if you're keeping up with this thread and haven't posted your stats, please do so! I think it would give mostly everybody a peace of mind and a realistic standard for if we are competitive to get in or not.. of course, there are always stats we won't see, but at least we might have somewhat of an idea.

Good luck to everyone with this process!!

Hah I feel exactly the same, I wish we could know NOW! From what I remember from some older threads - they seemed to notify people 1-2 months after the application deadline. You could stalk an older thread to get a better idea.

I'm also on the way completing my application. My stats is:

Cum GPA: 3.707

TEAS score: 84%

I took the TEAS 3 times, and I know my score is still not really good enough.

I'm kind of confused about the application process. I did complete the online thing which is on applytexas.org. And I also sent all of my transcripts to the school.

Is there anything else that we have to do? I read the information in the school website and it stops at the transcript step.

That is a good score! I am honestly hoping to score above an 80, I found the science section difficult because the questions were so specific. Good luck to you.

As for the next steps, google "application status TWU" because I believe you have to set up a student portal account. That account shows you which transcripts were received, which are missing, etc

I just got off the phone with an advisor and she said that the average GPA of the applicant's last cycle was a minimum 3.7, and the average TEAS score was an 87.

Also, which campus is everyone applying to? Dallas or Houston? The weekends and evenings at Dallas starts this Fall so obviously no one is going for that in this thread.

Did anyone attend the Houston Nursing Information Session this past Friday? I JUST saw it on their website and would love to read about any information you may have been given!

Based on your conversation with the advisor, do you think I should retake my TEAS? I scored an 87.3% and have a 4.0, but that only puts me at 48.70 points with no preferences. Doesn't seem high enough for the Dallas campus :p
