Hi!
I haven't seen a thread made for the TWU Spring 2018 application process, so decided to start one! I'm the type to worry, and I know I'm not alone, so what better place to vent than here? For anyone wondering, the application date for Spring 2018 is August 15th, 2017!
My GPA comes out to a 3.720 with TWU preference. I haven't taken my TEAs yet, but plan to soon.
How about y'all?
Idickerson,Can't thank you enough. I've been unnecessarily stressing over things and this really helped. Glad I applied to TWU, I'm realizing that it might be a better fit for me as well, but we will see in a few months when letters go out **fingers crossed** Have you visited the campus yet? I drove by the other day just to get a feel for the area. I live in north Houston and have never traversed the med center... HOLY cow, it is busy!
Hah! I used to work there and yes, super busy!! But I'm so glad the school is right smack in the middle of it. I think there are a lot of resources right there that we will be utilizing throughout the semesters. I'm pretty sure there is a shared library that a lot of the nursing and medical schools go to that is well stocked, but I could be wrong (pappa2v, do you know anything about this?). That might have been a UTHSC thing? Nonetheless, I'm super excited! I'm in Southwest Houston but the drive out there is not bad at all for me.
Are you guys all doing okay with these storms? Staying dry and safe??
I live close to Pearland area, and we're doing fine for the most part... can't say the same for the rest of the city, though. Thanks for checking in! Most major roads seem to be closed. How's it going in Southwest area, @ldickerson? Everyone stay home and stay safe! I heard muggings and burglaries are on on the rise, so stay indoors!
We're good down here. Dealt with a tornado on Friday night and we're getting little sleep with all of the warnings going on but, for right now, we're dry and we have power. I know a lot of Houston can't claim the same. I'm thinking about everyone out there. Hope you guys are all warm, dry, and safe!
Side note... about the online section 51 Pathophysiology. I'm still attempting to be added to the class (hopefully will happen today). This will be my first class/online class with TWU. How do we go about accessing the class? TWU Blackboard?
Hey @trg8689. So glad you're safe! Hope everything gets better here on out. Online classes are either on Blackboard or Canvas, and our class is on Blackboard (My Courses - - Texas Woman's University). The login is the same as Pioneer Portal. Once you're enrolled, you'll receive an email with instructions. We just received an email 15 min ago saying that Dr. Grigsby doesn't have internet access right now due to the storm, but she will open up the class for us as soon as she does. Until then, we need to frequently check the website for updates.
Your J1 here, we received notice from the Directors that they are taking this very seriously and they do not want us to worry about classes until after the disaster ends. To that effect I can tell you out of my 3 classes, only one remains open on blackboard. The others opened over the weekend but have been closed again, they are trying to reassess, and said dates will be changed and everything will be made up, but they cannot begin to reorganize or reopen things until they know how many students are affected and how the hospitals will be affected.
@trg8689 No worries! I totally understand, I was more concerned with class than the hurricane until I started seeing cars getting submerged down the street! Hope you get added soon!
@pappa22v Thanks for the update! It's definitely reassuring that TWU is definitely prioritizing our safety above all.
