Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.
Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?
I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.
If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?
Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!
Can anyone tell me if a periodic table is made available for the chemistry portion? There were chem questions in the study guide that I had to look up a periodic table for. I am particularly concerned about the chemistry portion. It is my weakest subject. I am scheduled to take the HESI on Monday. Thanks!
I took my test last night...yay! it feels so good to be done with that! My weakest subject was chemistry too, but it actually went pretty well for me! :) I am very happy with my results! If you need specific atomic weights or numbers, they will give it to you.
Butterfly journey's question split up seems right.
About the time allotment: For me each section wasn't individually timed, you just got 4 hours to complete the whole test and you can regulate how long/when you take your breaks and what order you want take the different sections. I took about 3 hrs to complete the exam, so there was plenty of time. I hurried through the math because it was the first section and finished it in about 45 minutes, but i really could've taken longer if I wanted to. All in all, it wasn't a really bad test...i usually am not good at standerdized tests and i did pretty well on this one! good luck! :nuke:
Oh.Thanks so much for the insight! Yeah, I take my test on Monday as well!I hope you do well! Yeah,I'm kinda confused about the chemistry section because to solve like stoichiometry and finding moles I need a calculator;are calculators allowed for either math or chem portion? How is the chemistry? It is just the basic balancing equations, and stuff about the periodic table? That's where I'm confused too, because chem is all about calculating!
If I understand correctly from other people who have posted, I think that we can use the calculator that is on the computer. Make sure you bring the Elsevier ID # that was sent to you when you first signed up. This is different from the confirmation email that came later, and you will need it to sign in. I saw where someone didn't have theirs, and as a result, wasn't able to take the test. I was glad I saw that, because I would have probably just taken my confirmation, and been in the same boat. I am so glad that we have this forum, and that everyone is so supportive. Good luck to everyone taking the HESI this week!
Remember when you had to email Elsevier and let them know you wanted to take the test and what school you wanted to send scores to? And then you got an email back from them with an Eligibility ID that you had to type into the Prometric site to schedule your exam? That Eligibility ID is also your Student ID, and you have to have it with you to take the test. Go back to the original email from Elsevier, not the Prometric confirmation. I am sure if you didn't keep it you can also contact Elsevier directly and get it.

I did NOT get a calculator of any type (on the computer or physically in my hands). I'm not sure who said that, but I just took it this past Thursday and they just gave me white boards. For the chemistry, I would study just the basic chemistry (ie. stoichiometry (moles conversions), titration, dilutions, etc). There wasn't much math in the chemistry portion for me. For the biology portion, I went out and bought a sparknotes biology review and studied that. The elsivier evolve study guide is very good with most of the sections in general.

If I remember correctly, the math, reading comprehension, grammar and vocabulary portions were all about 50-55 questions each (maybe 45 for one of them), but the A&P, biology and chemistry were 30 each. For that I was thankful.
