Hello everyone just wanted to see if there were anymore hopeful spring 2009 applicants out there. I submitted my application already and just sitting back waiting till Nov when acceptance/rejection letters are sent out. I know they said for us to check out emails everyday in October. If anyone has been through the application process before please share your experience. Good luck to everyone :wink2:
Well all the lady said when I called the Denton campus was if they decide to accept you they will communicate either by mail or telephone. She also said they could accept me anywhere from Nov till Jan when classes first start!!! I have no idea how far on the list I am. I'm assuming with a lot of people getting in with the .4 advantage very few people will give up their seat but you never know. Even if I don't get in for the spring I know I was good enough to get in just didn't have enough room. I will keep you posted if they accept me :bowingpur
If it makes anyone feel better, I have *heard* that TWU is talking about changing some of the requirements, so it wont be just GPA and NET scores. I don't know when that will take effect, but it may help a bunch of you all out. good luck, and don't give up!!
wow, that would be amazing. i wonder what they would even think about adding. interview maybe? maybe rec letters. very interesting. thanks so much!

I don't quite know, but there is going to be "other stuff". I heard it's about personality/ extracuricular/ recs/ etc. I think they are realizing that grades are not the only thing that make a good nurse.

It is very unfortunate that fact is just now being realized. The letter grade shouldn't be everything! Some simply do not test well on paper, and for many students "life" happens. BUT i'm glad to hear that a change is being thought of.
I agree. It really is a shame a lot of schools are now just realizing that they need to look at the full package on who to accept into nursing school. Some of my friends who are in school are telling me now that a lot of hospitals are complaining that a lot of new nurses lack people skills and treat the patient as just a chore. I believe interviews would be a good thing to start. For example the fall semester applications will be up at the end of December and the deadline is Feb 1st. That whole month of March they should conduct interviews for all the applicants that qualify and I guess have some kind of cut off gpa like maybe a 3.4 I hate letters of rec since you know almost everyone in all your classes are nursing students too and thats way too many forms for a teacher to fill out.
Greetings all TWU applicants! I am one of the fortunate few who were accepted for Spring of '09. Dallas was my first choice but I did accept Houston as a back up. I didn't get into the Dallas campus so I'll be moving to Houston the 10th of January. Due to my location and work schedule I was unable to make the registration session on the 4th of December. I called ahead and spoke with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and she sounded disappointed, but didn't kick me out of the program or anything. Was anybody else unable to attend? I've already registered for classes on my own and I already hold a BLS certification for my current job. Were books and uniforms the only other topics covered? Can anybody tell me the company that the TNSA uses to order scrubs? Anybody planning on working in a hospital while going to school, and, if so - any tips on finding a position that's class compatible?

I have seen other threads about Spring 2009, but i was curious of any others that may be going to TWU in the Spring. So, i thought i would start a thread....
Also, for anyone who may currently be attending TWU - any advise you can give, and/or insight to schedule and clinicals would be great!
