TWU Spring 2020 Hopefuls?

Updated:   Published

Hey! I'm applying to TWU for Spring of 2020. It's super early, but apps are due this Summer. Anyone else applying? I'm super nervous and I'd love to hear what everyone is doing to prepare for the TEAS! Also if anyone knows how many points are considered competitive let me know!

Hi, I know the spring admission usually isn't as competitive as the fall however, does anyone know what the average spring admission scores are?

Also can someone please dumb down how to figure out the points from our GPA and Teas together?

I received an email saying that I am eligible but I don't think I have a shot. My current GPA is 3.2 and my teas was 84.7 however, maybe I'll be lucky enough to be the last person accepted!

There is a spreadsheet on the nursing site (under the section about Houston Applicants) where you can calculate your admission score. Be sure to read the instructions! https://twu.edu/nursing/undergraduate-programs/bachelor-of-science-bs-with-a-major-in-nursing/

Is there anyone else still waiting on an eligibility email? I know they are busy, I just want to make sure I haven't missed something.

Hey I also have not received one yet. I was starting to get worried that maybe I wasn't going to get one.

I haven't gotten the email yet but I did reach out to the advisor at the Houston campus and she confirmed that they do have my application, it just takes time for the team to get through all of them! So if you got the initial confirmation feom NursingCAS stating your application was received and verified then you should be good and we just have to paitiently wait ?

I'm curious..does anyone know, or heard, of anyone who has an admission score above the cutoff point and did not get admitted?
I'm asking for a peace of mind. It would be comforting to know if a certain score range is considered "safe" for admission.

So they take 12 points max from each section of the Teas score. My question is how do I know my points per section? I know my % score but I don’t know what that means in points. Can someone explain please?

@JaymeLauren Are you trying to calculate points for your admission score? There's an excel spreadsheet TWU provides that automatically calculates it if you input your individual section % and overall %. Do you need the file?

@mirajira Yes, I have the spreadsheet but whenever I try to use it the columns merge and it’s a mess. I’m also just terrible at excel lol.

Oh my lord, I figured out how to do the excel and there is no way I can get in! My total is 33! I guess worse case I'll shoot for next fall at TWU or UTA. I think UTA is easier to get into their BSN program.

I was told by an advisor for Houston above 45 typically gets admitted. It is much different for Dallas though

My friend said they aren’t accepting as many students for Dallas this time around. Like maybe not even half as many. Does anyone know is this is true? Are there really fewer seats for spring? Usually there are about 100.

Ask your friend where she got that information. I've not heard that nor seen anyone else mention it!

If your last acceptance to TWU was in 2016 and you didn't enroll in courses then you would have needed to reapply and be accepted. Their admissions site states acceptance to TWU is good for one calendar year before you would need to reapply. If you did reapply this July and sent in all of your transcripts I would reach out to the Office of Admissions Processing to see if they received your newest application. It could be something as simple as putting your new and correct student ID on your current application. Good luck!

Hi! so I reached out to the office of admissions processing and turns out they did receive my application from july. however, they didnt receive a copy of my passport so they were unable to finish processing it. I didnt know we were supposed to do that! I turned in everything else including my bacterial meningitis and even my AP scores. so I guess I have to apply for next time around which sucks. but hopefully someone else can learn from this. I really wish i somehow could be part of this cycle though. good luck to everyone!
