TWU Spring 2020 Hopefuls?

Updated:   Published

Hey! I'm applying to TWU for Spring of 2020. It's super early, but apps are due this Summer. Anyone else applying? I'm super nervous and I'd love to hear what everyone is doing to prepare for the TEAS! Also if anyone knows how many points are considered competitive let me know!

Hi everyone! I was trying to read most of the posts on here but gave up lol. I saw someone had a question regarding sending transcripts as well as TEAS scores. You can have the transcripts electronically sent to NursingCAS without that request form. For the TEAS scores, the advisor told me to just upload the individual score report that you can download from the ATI website to the "Documents" section.

My stats from the advising sheet:

Nursing Core GPA: 3.64

Prereq GPA: 3.68

TEAS: 92.7% Composite - Reading (89.4%), Math (100%), Science (91.5%), English (87.5%)

Admission Score: 58.27 (No TWU pref but with prior bachelor's degree)

Just submitted my nursingcas app and anxious to hear from schools! good luck everyone and I'm excited to start posting here!

Ouhhh girll you did so good on the teas, how did you do it?? Like can I please have some tips

So I know I'm really late to the game... I wasn't planning on applying to this school but have decided to try.

If i submit my TWU application early tomorrow morning, do you think I will get accepted quick enough to submit my nursingCAS by August 15th?

Also what type of application do we do for ApplyTexas? I have a bachelor's degree from TAMU, graduated in May 2018. Would it be a transfer app?

I have a bachelor's degree and i used the transfer app. If you can get all your transcripts submitted asap i would then reach out to the office of admissions processing and ask them if they can expedite it. My last transcript got there 7/22 and i got my initial acceptance on 7/24!

That's great! Another question, on the TWU website it says that electronic transcripts should be sent using a third party service? Can they not just be sent electronically from the school? That's what I've done in the past with all my other apps.

You can only send them electronically if your school uses Credentials, Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse. My school didn't use it so my school had to mail the transcript. Check if your school uses those 3 services and if not, you have to ask your school to mail your transcript.

I studied the Mometrix ATI TEAS Secrets book for about a week. I’d study casually after I got off of work but I put in a lot of time that weekend (my test was on a Wednesday)

Oh wow your admission score is great! If you don’t mind me asking, what campus are you applying to?

My CAS nursing shows a 'verified' status. What else do I need to do?

Houston! What about you? I live by the med center so it would be so convenient for me. Also applying to UTH Pacesetter program, UH 2nd Degree BSN, and then SHSU. I don't know why I submitted an app to SHSU because a daily trek to the woodlands would be pretty costly for me.

I also want to add that I was EXTREMELY surprised by my TEAS score (and grateful, I've had a difficult time focusing since my dad's death in March but still pushed through my classes and work). I studied hard but when I did practice tests I scored 60-78% on math and science, then about 78-85% on the reading and language portions. I think the Mometrix book definitely prepared me, on top of recently taking A&P 1 and 2. I didn't study efficiently when I took AP 1 but I studied REALLY hard and actually retained info when I took AP 2 this past spring. That also helped me significantly for that section. Additionally, I work as a researcher so I'm still pretty familiar with basic science and math calculations in my day to day work right now.

When you click on your application status does it show that your transcripts have arrived?

Yea your TEAS score is AMAZING, specially for the time you took to prepare for it ?. I took like 2 months to prepare for it and got an 86% ( I used pocket prep & Mometrix book ).

I’m also applying to the Houston campus! ??Hopefully I make it, because I’m sure with your scores you are in! ????I’m just taking my last prerequisite class, which is micro. I’m also interested in applying to UTHealth and UTMB. However, I’m hoping I get in TWU or UThealth so bad because I live like 10-15 mins from the med center as well. I’ve heard UTMB is a good school too, I just think the driving is going to be hectic.
