TWU Spring 2014 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those hoping to get into TWU starting Spring 2014. My name is Kia and I have already sent in my application and completed my TEAS V exam. I'll be in the Denton campus patho class this fall (trying to wait patiently for an acceptance letter-GOD willing).

Are any of you guys joining nsna?

Is it mandatory? Ehats the point of it?

Ashamed to say I had to look up what that is

Hi! I'll also be attending the Houston campus this spring and I have a few questions.

For the Drug and Background Check form we have to sign and return by Nov 18, are we suppose to drop off the form personally or can we mail it to her? And if the latter, what's the exact mailing address?

Also, for the Immunization Record form that we have to fax to Denton by Dec 4, are we suppose to fax the form along with all the lab reports or just the form since they'll look at all our original paperwork at advisement?

And finally, does anyone have any suggestions of affordable places to get the titers done?

Thank you!

I think you can mail it in to them since they didn't provide a fax number. I just called the number listed and they said it is the address above which is 6700 Fannin Houston TX 77030

For your lab record, I suggest you to fax in all the shot records. For me it is just one page has all immunization listed.. One thing I am worried is that my Hep B shot #2 to #3 is only 4 months apart... the requirement says 5months.. Anyone else have the same situation?

I am not sure where is affordable really.. The place I am going to cost $30-$40. So if you can find cheaper, let me know! :)

NSNA/TSNA chapter at TWU is a student organization. Joining is not mandatory, but it does have benefits. If you want information about it, the officers are usually at the orientation to introduce themselves and talk about the organization.

Here is information they sent out in August for the Hep B titer and Hep C antibody test (not the other titers):

St. Luke's Liver Health Outreach and Baylor Clinic are offering Hepatitis B Titers and Hepatitis C Antibody tests for free to nursing students. They take walk ins Monday to Friday 9AM - 3PM (Closed 12 noon to 1PM) and are located at 6620 Main Street, Suite 1505 (Baylor Clinic), Houston, TX 77030.

didnt even finish my billing information on the surscan webpage and it automatically process through without my email, missing pieces of my home address. *****

Thanks went in today and got it for free along with free parking. Talked to a guy named Wayne and he said its open from MON - THURS. He is even willing to bring the team to TWU on our orientation only if our prof. allows it.

Along with that those who need to get TITER for the measles, rubella, etc. Wayne said to call the "gateway for care" people. Ive tried calling but they only leave voice messages. If anyone know somewhere they can give Titer at no cost or little cost links it in this forum.

That would be great! I will see if I can get him in touch with someone from campus. I know they have had UT Health come in before, so I don't see why this would be any different.

Titer Test For Varicella, MMR Or Hepatitis B Vaccines for the MMR (measles, rubella, and mumps) - $100

VzV Titer , Varicella Zoster Virus Titer for varicella titer - $49

cheapest so far in my findings ( i have no insurance only got a gold card)

Hi everyone,

my name is Sanny. i know this is probably off topic but i am going to be an applicant for TWU spring 2015.

I know they look at your first attempt on A&P 1 2, Micro, and stat. I took A&P 1 6 years ago and i failed it ;/ . Recently i re-take the class and i made A. So here is my question, will TWU count at the one i took 6 years ago or will it be the recent one? i am confused because it says that those science classes expire after 5 years.

Any advice will be appreciated!! congrats to everyone who made it. :)

If it says it expires after 5 years then they will look at your recent one. Call to double check. Everyone there is super helpful. Good luck!
