TWU Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those hoping to get into TWU starting Spring 2014. My name is Kia and I have already sent in my application and completed my TEAS V exam. I'll be in the Denton campus patho class this fall (trying to wait patiently for an acceptance letter-GOD willing).

Hi everyone,

my name is Sanny. i know this is probably off topic but i am going to be an applicant for TWU spring 2015.

I know they look at your first attempt on A&P 1 2, Micro, and stat. I took A&P 1 6 years ago and i failed it ;/ . Recently i re-take the class and i made A. So here is my question, will TWU count at the one i took 6 years ago or will it be the recent one? i am confused because it says that those science classes expire after 5 years.

Any advice will be appreciated!! congrats to everyone who made it. :)

They will count the grade from your most recent attempt but when you took it 6 yrs ago, that counts as your first attempt so you won't get the "preference" for a first attempt A.

Ohh no..i am so sad and regretted so much for what i did 6 years ago.. ;/ booo

do you guys think my chances just "gone"? because i failed one out of 4 for first attempt.

Thank you guys ;)

I very much doubt that. If they seriously looked into my old transcripts, then I probably wouldn't have had a chance. If you recently retook the class and make a better grade - they should use that one (but you will most likely lose your 1st attempt A bonus for it). I know I retook classes to boost my GPA and they only looked at the most recent attempts for the GPA calculations.

Good luck in your application and remember GPA is one part of the bigger application.

Thank you for your comment. I feel there is a little hope for me. I am going to make an appointment to see an advisor later this month and perhaps answer all of my questions.

Good luck to me.. ;p

But if there's a 5 year expiration than they shouldn't even take in considering the class of 6 yrs ago... right?

My understanding is that even if you took the class 5+ years ago - it still will be seen as a first attempt and used in the GPA calculation. They require some of the science pre-reqs to be within the past 5 years to make sure you are current on the information.

But I wouldn't put too much faith in my opinions and ideas on the admissions process. Most of what I know about that part was pieced together from conversations from over a year ago - so I am not 100% reliable at this point. The best source of information would be an admissions counselor or adviser from the school.

So I just got my shots done today. I went to Personal Lab on Harwin. They are a company under Quest labs, they do give discount for students. Both MMR and Varicella they charge $85. But for MMR we need both titer and shots. So that's $85+$45+$45 I believe. Their office hour is Monday-Friday 8:30 to 4:30 lunch 1 to 2. The total cost for me today is around $300. Hep B & C is not even included. Soooo much money T_T"

85???? I just posted about the varicella for $50 but the MMR is by far the most expensive one. as for the hep B/C you can get em FOR FREE at BAYLOR with FREE parking!!!!!

that criminal background check paper, DO we need to just sign it and mail it in? Or do we have to get the results in first and mail along with it?

yea you just sign it and mail it back. I just saw the varicella for $50... omg -_-' yea I got my Hep B & C yesterday at St luke hospital. BLAH!

Sign where it says student signature. The results and records should be signed by a health care provider and include the clinics info, or have them fill out the box on the immunizations paper.

For the BG, the actual check hasn't been mailed to us, the paper is just an agreement that you've read the policy.

You can also email it to her or take it in.
