TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

And Houston.

Of course but I meant the Dallas Fort Worth area.

Hey guy's I haven't logged on in a while and it seems like I missed some good conversations. I plan and hope to take my TEAS in August since the application is due in September I hope that's not to late :o also for those of y'all that took the exam already what do you recommend to use as a study guide?

I don't think August is too late. It only takes a couple of days for TWU to get the score, so you should be fine. My advisor told me that as long as we took it a week before the Sep. 1 deadline, we'd be fine! :)

Also, the ATI TEAS-V manual seems to be working just fine as a study guide for me, and I believe everyone else is using it as well. You can buy it on the ATI website or on Amazon!

When I was speaking to other students that got into TWU's nursing program for the fall, most of them had GPA's very close to a 4.0 and TEAS scores of 80+; I'm not sure how they were on their extra bumps though (first attempt A's and pre-existing bachelor's degree) - but do remember that these are heavy weights as well. It might be possible that your friend lacked in those areas.

My friend said the adviser told her that most students have at least a 3.75; they say that 80 is considered competitive for TEAS. I believe someone mentioned getting an A on it, and Ashley told them it was the highest she'd seen in a while, so an A/upper 80's would be a good thing to shoot for.

Hope that helps.

Sounds correct, except there are no more bumps for GPA, meaning if you went to TWU you get the. 4

Sorry, what? Are you saying they no longer receive the .4? Because they definitely do...I it's typo; either that or I'm so chemistry'd out I can't read correctly :D

No they don't anymore. It was removed. Now equal shot for everyone. A TWU nursing student who got accepted for fall 2012 went to ask the advisor themself. It was removed.

I wonder when it was removed? I went to an information session in March and Ashley still mentioned it as part of the criteria they looked at. Interesting...

I scheduled my TEAS about a month ago for July 23, but now, after a busy month and barely being able to study, I think I may move the date back to sometime in the beginning of August. I'm nervous about making a good score!! I'm about to be on vacation for a week, so I'm not sure how much I'll be able to study then...I don't really want to move the date back though. *Sigh*

If you need more time then move it back! You can even take it mid to end august. Especially if you need time to study. You know all it takes is an hr a day to study! That's what I do. I am going on vacation ad well. :-)

The .4 boost is still part of the criteria. I just called and spoke with 2 people in the nursing department and they said it is still a factor....no worries :)

Awesome, where are you going? I'm so excited; I leave for Galveston Saturday morning! :D

I'll definitely start studying at least an hour a day, if not more. But yeah, one hour is better than nothing!! ;)

For the boosts, are you all talking about the boost for first attempt A's or the boost for attending TWU as anamazing undergrad?
