TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

Thanks! You are awesome! I found it.

You're welcome!

At least you have one first attempt A, and from what I've been reading, you have an excellent GPA. Since you have taken the science classes twice, you should be extra prepared for the TEAS V! I'm sure you will rock the TEAS V and it will even everything out in the decision making process. We all have strengths and weaknesses. Think positive! Good luck!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! :) *crosses fingers*

I agree - it looks scary! I've heard that we read it cover to cover! Ms. Spinozzi called it "A&P on steroids." But I only have one other class with it, and it's sociology online. I also hope to not be working FT anymore by fall, so I should have more time.

And I'm sure we'll be fine. I've heard so many things about how they weigh what, but I got my back up schools planned out just in case I don't get in, so I'm starting to feel a little better. And I feel you! I'm taking so many summer classes to do last minute GPA bumps to get to a 4.0 - and I studied so hard for my TEAS! I scored an 86. I was shooting for an A, but I suppose I'm okay with my score. I really did do my best!

Have you taken your TEAS yet?

Hi ambrekai! How much did you end up paying for your book?

At least you're only taking one more class with your pathophysiology! I'll be taking four other classes with it...but I'm not working so I should be fine. I heard it called "A&P on steroids" also, haha. This should be fun...

I actually haven't bought my book yet. I'll be buying it used off of amazon closer to when classes start, so whatever is the best used price is what I'll be paying for it :) Gotta save money for upcoming nursing supplies! ;)

HI, I just signed up. I have taken my other perreq for TWU. am left with Statistics and nutrition which am taking now (summer 1). I plan to take the TEAS at the end of summer 1 . I already applied to TWU for fall, I would like to know if I can go ahead and register for the pathophysiology for fall, because I wouldnt be taking any classes in fall, thank God for this forum, cause I didnt know you could take the class before you are accepted.

OK, y'all, help me with this. I might be confusing myself! LOL! I was just reading TWU's policy regarding patho (BIOL 4344), and it looks like it basically says that I can take the class before the nursing program begins, but it is not required that I do so. However, if I do choose to take patho, and I bomb it (make a D or lower), it will affect my entry into the upper division nursing program because patho is part of the nursing curriculum. My big fear is that I will be taking patho on the Dallas campus, and I have not heard very good things about the class. Are there different instructors teaching the spring classes? I wonder if the online option for patho is available once we start the nursing program? I would consider the Denton class, but it is full. I'm starting to get nervous!

Hi Akpanum! Welcome! Yes, you can take patho in the fall. The class in Denton is full, but last time I checked the one in Dallas had spots. I think you need special permission to take it online.

Heavy load, but you can do it :) And yeah, that's what I was thinking about doing...come spring the money is going to be tighter than ever!

I don't believe that there are different teachers...I think they remain the same throughout semesters! But don't quote me on that because I'm not completely sure; I don't think you have to worry that much about the Dallas campus patho. I've heard that the class itself really isn't too bad, no matter the teacher, as long as you are prepared.

From what I've heard, the online patho is only available for those RN students who are trying to get their BSN, so I'm pretty sure undergrads can't take it.

Also, my advisor explained it this way: the policy regarding patho doesn't affect the ENTRY into upper division nursing, it effects the continuance of the upper division nursing, and it would be the same whether you take it now or in the spring, and I believe the same policy applies to ALL the upper division classes. So if you can take it this fall, I wouldn't let the policy scare you off ;)
