twu spring 2012 applicants!

U.S.A. Texas

Hey guys! I wanted to start a forum for us twu spring 2012 hopefuls!

About me

I have a 3.2, yikes! :sofahider, and after this summer it should come up to a 3.6 or 7 and I am studying my butt off for the teas and will only have 3 more classes after that to take. I have gotten into the university as the first step, but I am so worried about getting into the nursing program, fingers crossed :uhoh3:

I'm confused and frustrated. I filled out the application and it said I was missing the statistics requirement. I took PSYCH stats, not math stats. It says on the TWU website that psych stats are acceptable if you are core complete, which I am. Has anyone run into this? I sent an email and haven't heard back.

Am I really going to have to retake stats because of the freaking prefix? I swear every time I think I've got everything I need something changes or something throws a wrench in it. SOOOO frustrating.

youschold be fine it says that but you should be ok i was

I took Psych stats as well and they accepted it in place of math stats. Sometimes they just need to manually evaluate the course you took just in case it is vastly different from the course they offer.

Thank you! They emailed me back and told me that my stats course was fine and told me to continue the application process! yay! I'm happy that turned out to be a false alarm.

Took my TEAS 2 days ago... scored a 91.3%! Yay! I am pretty pleased with this score. I was freaking out because people kept saying it was way harder then the HESI, however, for me, it was way easier, and I didn't really study (but studied for days/hours for the HESI), so I don't know... lol @_@ It was pretty helpful to review general biology and life science briefly the night before

@ Taylor... congrats on a great score!! I am taking the HESI for another school in two weeks and not sure how it is compared to the TEAS. I did well on the TEAS so I feel I should do ok on the HESI. Only two more weeks til deadline and then waiting period!!!

@abranson02 thank you! :) everyone had been saying that the teas v was way harder, but it was opposite for me. i guess it depends on the individual. i thought it was wayyy easier because chem is my happy place and as others have said, there was more chem on the test than anything. i had 29 chem/life science questions, 8 scientific reasoning questions, and 11 a&p questions. of course the hesi is all a and p. i liked the teas better because it covers a broader and more general subject range. for the hesi, know your major muscles and what groups they are in, renal, blood circulation (chambers of the heart in order, etc), what parts of the brain do what, primary nerves and function, hormones, reproductive system, wbcs/lymphocytes/granules/etc, and basic biology (cell structure, mitosis/meiosis, etc). that is really all i was tested on. of course, you could get different subject areas, but that should be helpful. i barely didn't pass... :/ retaking it on wednesday.

congrats! i absolutely hated the teas

@saraiish thanks! I really just feel a little nuts after doing so well on the TEAS V and having such a low science score on the HESI... I think it might have just been because it was my first pre-entrance exam, so the nausea/anxiety were peaked. Who knows, lol. I am ready to be done with this whole application thing...
