TWU Houston Spring 2015 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi - I am applying to TWU Houston Campus for Spring 2015 and I wanted to see any other 2015 TWU hopefuls out there!

I will be taking Microbiology this summer so that I can have my core courses completed by Sept. 1st. As of right now I have first-try A's in AP I and II as well as Statistics... Just need to get my Micro completed and out of the way. I am a very nervous because I was not as focused on school as I should have been when I was younger. My cumulative GPA is only 3.4. Ugh! My prereq GPA is 3.8.

Also, I took the dreaded TEAS V test this week and my score was not as high as I would have liked but I passed! 77%. Anyone else take their TEAS yet? How did you do?

I am applying to TWU for Spring 2015. I was not going to at first because of the 2 year program. I have a bachelors and masters. After reading posts about accelerated programs I think I need a 2 year program. I have not taken my TEAS yet I plan on taking it in July.

Hi all! I'm in the process of applying to TWU as well. I've already taken the TEASV - 80 overall just for those wondering! ealba94, the copied and paste paragraph you posted mentions that only for Spring 2015 applicants, we are able to take it more than once, but they will only take the most recent score - even if it's the worst of the two or however many times! I'm taking two classes right now to satisfy the prereqs. Hopefully, it brings my GPA up to meet requirements as well!

jennytmuw - I've heard from a lot of people that the HESI was a lot harder than the TEASV, but I actually thought the TEAS V was harder. I usually don't do well on timed tests though :( but there could also be other factors, like the studying material used and amount of time spent studying. I didn't like how the TEAS V gives you an allotted time for each section as oppose to giving you the full 4 hours to finish all sections like in the HESI.

I just sent in my application for TWU Houston! (I know it isn't due until September, but I'm already done with my prereqs).

I scored a 91 on my TEAS, and have a 3.9 GPA.

Best of luck to you guys!

Does anyone know if we can retake only one section of the test? I made a 77 in total but unfortunately a 60 on the science. I felt like the science section was for Chem majors !

They won't let you retake just one section, but at least you'll be well prepared in all the sections when you retake it! That science section was a B!

How did y'all study for the science section? It is a lot of info that I'm not retaining.

I am applying to TWU nursing program for spring 2015. I took my teas last week. I made a 94, my overall GPA is 3.86. I hope I get in, since am a transfer student. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Specializes in Med/Surg, OR.

I used the TEAS study guide to study for the science. I made sure I knew that guide forward and backward. It is a lot of studying for so few questions. If I didn't understand how something worked, I watched YouTube videos from CrashCourse, Bozeman Science as well as Khan academy.

I have the ati study guide and I am trying to retain all this info. It's just so much.

Is anyone trying or has attempted to take the TWU Pathophysiology online or the Houston campus one? I'm trying to get in at least in Houston's face to face class because I'd like to get that class out of the way. The course is under "BIO" not nursing and so I don't see why we can't take Patho early.

Hi [COLOR=#003366]ealba94 Did you start working as a CNA?

Hi [COLOR=#003366]chavoncrn how is the studying going? If you are pressed for time you can try focusing on the Math and Science parts. I know it seems like a lot but if you space it out, doing a few pages a day, you can do it! Call me if you'd like, my friend is also studying for it.

@jennytmuw I believe patho can only be taken once you have been accepted into the nursing program for the Houston campus.

Hi everyone!

I am in the process of applying to twu Houston for the spring. I have read a lot of past boards(for past semesters) talk about how the school rates you. In the past i READ a lot of people talking about the three ways they rank us all. They use your TEAS score, your GPA, and the number of As you made in certain classes. (anp 1 and 2, stats, and micro) I was just wondering since they changed the rule for the teas( you have to make a 64 on all four parts, not just an average like before) if they changed anything else. If anyone know anything about how they rank us, please do share. I need to know how excited or anxious I have to be.
