TWU Houston Fall 2009

Published

I could not for the life of me find a thread for people who were going to be going to Houston in the fall, so here we go.

I was going out for the fast track 2009 in Dallas, got denied and put back in the fall applicant pool, then BAM:D, got hit with the shocker last night when I got home from work that I had been accepted to the regular BSN program in Houston.

I'm really excited to start a new chapter and I thought this would be a good way to meet other members of the class before we get there. So shout out where you're from and your background so we can all get to know each other before August!

(P.S.- I've also been accepted to the community college in my hometown, which is closer, cheaper, and probably going to be easier, but I think it would be borderline offensive to turn down such an awesome offer, let me know what you think)

Hey murse what kind of scholarship did u get from Texas womans?? If u don't mind me asking.

yes i hope i recieve somethin..

i barely get any grants.. but i do plan on gettin a private loan or a PLUS loan to pay.. cause i think the PLUS loan pays for EVERYTHIN, books, tuition, living. so i might do that..

i dont think any apt has internet in the apts, i think we would have to get it and then just split the cost

i wish they can let us know earlier how much federal loan or other financial aid we can get. Did you any of you receive their financial aid pakage (grant, loans)? I haven't recieved mine. All I got is the scholarship they gave me upon my admission to the nursing program. :)

I got the listing of the apartment from an apartment locator person. So there are three bedroom apartments that are available at San Marin. Would you be interested in rooming together if we do get a deal for 3 bedroom?

oh and sophia... for the varicella immunization, so long as you have had chickenpox, you don't need the vaccine/titer. Is that right b/c i'm kinna getting confused with that.

i called them yesterday... and i told them that I had chicken pox before. And she told me it is the new requirement of nursing school and you must have a titer. If you are positve, then you are ok but if you are negative, you are required to have the immunization shots.

I would be interested in the rooming with you guys if we can find a deal. :)

i know the varicella immunization is really confusing. :(

I think i'm just gonna have my titer just to be safe.... and it won't hurt if you guys can double check with the immunization lady. :)

I have already spoken with the immunization lady and she said that we must have the titer regardless. That is what I am having to do. Like i posted before I got the first dose of Varicella and got a really bad reaction to it. Then I found out that I already had the chicken pox when I was a 1 1/2 years old. Then the immunization lady told me that all Denton needs is the results of my titer and I will be done. So I have a feeling that my varicella titer will be positive since I reacted to the shot. LOL

As for the loans and grants question, I will be getting loans for right now since I am still working. When i stop working i am going to ask for a revision to see if I can get grants since my husband will be supporting all four of us. However, I did get a scholarship so that helps.

I am not sure. I spoke with Denton where we are suppose to send our form to.

Well I might not be starting then. I don't have anymore money. I have no insurance so everything is out of pocket

Princess what do you mean you might not be starting? :-(

That lady said if you had the shot then u didn't have ot have the titer and that's what the paper says too
