I could not for the life of me find a thread for people who were going to be going to Houston in the fall, so here we go.
I was going out for the fast track 2009 in Dallas, got denied and put back in the fall applicant pool, then BAM:D, got hit with the shocker last night when I got home from work that I had been accepted to the regular BSN program in Houston.
I'm really excited to start a new chapter and I thought this would be a good way to meet other members of the class before we get there. So shout out where you're from and your background so we can all get to know each other before August!
(P.S.- I've also been accepted to the community college in my hometown, which is closer, cheaper, and probably going to be easier, but I think it would be borderline offensive to turn down such an awesome offer, let me know what you think)
you don't get to pick your teachers at all. a group of them all teach the classes with one teacher (the course manager) running everything. you will have different teachers lecture throughout the semester. everything is very laid back and casual. most of the teachers are great to get along with and genuinely want to help you. there are some of course that seem as though they could care less but honestly they are far and few between. it doesn't even matter which section you sign up for b/c they are all together so don't worry about it. your research and aging classes for junior 2 are online and those are the only 2 that i would be worried about which section i'm in. a teacher is assigned to each section in there and the grading is not the same across the board. pretty much for those classes the teacher you get to grade your work will greatly reflect in the grade you recieve. the students are just like the students anywhere else. for the most part everyone is friendly and loves to talk to everyone but there are a few people that keep to themselves. the computer lab and the study rooms are packed usually b/c we are not the only ones in the building (don't forget PT is there too as well as all levels of nursing students which all adds up quickly.) let me know if i left anything out.

Everyone has ask about books and the process, but I don't think anyone has ask, just how is the school it self with dealing with professors, as well as with other students, what is the first Junior 1 like, what is the schedule during the first semester? Is it pretty laid back, to where you are just not in a "stuff shirt" type of amosphere?:)
