TWU Fall 2010

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Fall of 2010? I got this idea from a previous thread and thought I should get one started for this semester, so that we can help each other and communicate with each other?

I have taken the Hesi-A2 and got a 74.8 on it so they didn't even look at my application. I live on campus so any help or information I can give just let me know. I'm excited and feel good about this deadline.

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

Haha! I was thinking the same thing! I check my email daily (sometimes twice daily) just to see if there's any hint of anything...nothing.

Are y'all keeping busy to pass the time quicker? I dug out an old highly addictive computer game to play in my spare time, which I have too much of these days...again, must pass time quicker!! Last week flew by, and hopefully these next two will also.

Is there anyone that applied who is working full time or planning on working full time while they go to school?

I would strongly advise not to work full time while in school. At least your first semester. Um a J1 and I don't think there are even enough hours in a week to be a full time nursing student and work full time. Some people are working part time but some of them seem to be struggling with getting all the school work done.

I wish that was an option...unfortunately as a single mom who needs insurance for both me and kiddo, I need to stay on full-time as long as I can. Plus, I work for a hospital that has excellent benefits, especially in the area of continuing education...they have reimbursement and stipends for students who qualify, not to mention mentorships and recruit heavily from within, which will help when it comes to GN internship. I'd like to stay on as long as I can. I know it won't be easy, but I know it's possible. Just wanted to see if anyone was in the same boat!

hello everyone,

I am anxiously waiting like all of you. After reading how well all of you have done on the hesi and on your gpa's, I am starting to feel even more stress. I knew it was competitive but wow. I got an 87 on the hesi but my gpa I'm afraid is a little low 3.63. I can try again for spring 2011 after I replace some B's I got in history and Psyc, I will also have to retake classes that i took over five years ago. That rule will be instituted for the next application deadline of Sep. 1, 2010:crying2: good luck to everyone. I read someone posted that the number of applicants was around 550, that seems low, when I went to applicant orientation she told me last year there were, around 800 applicants.

I do have some friends who work for places that are like yours and have good education benefits and stipends for their students who qualify...but none of them are required to work full time to qualify for them...There are a lot of people in my class that are parents and have one or more children. Our schedule is so random, that it would be hard to work full time...but part time is possible if you are very organized, and have a good support system through friends and family.

I work 12 hour shifts and my job is pretty flexible...I can work three days a week and still be FT. I've been able to change my hours every semester to accomodate school thus far...I'm lucky to be here. I know plenty of people in this hospital who have done well in nursing school while continuing to work full time. With the discipline and motivation, it's possible. I know I am not the first single, full-time working parent to go to nursing school. Luckily, I have support from my job as well as from my family, so I am beyond confident that I'll get through it.

I'm hoping to stay at my part-time job when school starts. I tutor for a local junior college. We have a limit of 19.5 hours a week, but I can set my own hours. It's a great job because most days we don't have many students, and I can get my own homework & studying done. It's also nice that it keeps A&P on my brain so I don't forget it while waiting for nursing school.

I plan on working in research. Im a chemist right now and I want to keep working in the lab until i can work as a student nurse. BTW-- I got into Baylor's nursing program! YAY!:)

Congrats on getting into Baylor, Kellywood! It must be exciting to get that acceptance!

One more week...well, sort of... The anxiety is killing me!

@cmcervantes63,

I am or should I say will be one of those students who work fulltime (at a hospital as well :))...single mom...in the same boat my hospital has a great tuition reimbursement program and scholarship for employees plus the hospital I work for just started a partnership with UTA Academic Partnership program which means I can remain a fulltime employee because ALL classes will be online and clinicals will be done at my hospital on the weekends which will not interfere with my fulltime position. I am extremely excited about this opportunity. I have about 12 pre-reqs to take before applying for the actual nursing program but I will definitely be sharing your pain.

Let's keep each other motivated and geared for the FINAL prize becoming a BSN RN! :yeah:

Just got an email! I GOT IN TO HOUSTON AND DALLAS!!!!!!
