TWU Fall 2018 Nursing Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey guys, I know it's a little early, however, I decided to start this thread as the application process will be soon upon us.

How are you studying for the TEAS?

Wishing all the best! :)

Hello, just submitted my application for Dallas evening and weekend.

Question the excel sheet I worked through did not show how many points the TEAS exam is worth. Is that normal or am I calculating it wrong? Then my second question is I read where the average Teas accepted last year was a 87.9% is that based on each individual score or off the composite overall score ?

The number shows at the bottom it's "grey" it's above where you enter your TEAS score and that's the overall score for the average TEAS but it differs each cycle

Hey everyone! I am nervous because I have not taken my a&ps in 6 years. I just took my teas on Jan 26th and did awful! I didn't study one bit and I should have. The science was so hard for me. I made 96 and 97 on English and math. Here are my stats

Nursing core...3.68

Prereq core....3.78

Teas 82.7

I have a bachelor I just received in Dec 17.

Total points: 50.87

Good luck!!!

I might have to retake ap1 and 2 this summer along with my teas.

Greetings, future nurses!

We are in the home stretch to the application deadline for Fall 2018! (Woop woop!)

We wanted to pop in with some announcements and some gentle reminders to help make your application journey a little less stressful.

1. The application deadline is February 1, 2018. This means that by February 1, 2018:

- You have to be admitted to TWU (ApplyTexas.org)

- Your NursingCAS application has to be complete and submitted by 10:59 PM CST (midnight east coast time, where NursingCAS is located)

(Visit here for NursingCAS questions: Nursing CAS Frequently Asked Questions - Texas Woman's University)

- You need to have taken the TEAS and have requested your official ATI TEAS score report to be sent from ATI to TWU (ATItesting.com)

- All official transcripts from previous institutions need to be submitted to TWU's Office of Admissions Processing.

2. We're getting lots of phone calls and emails from students asking about admissions points/score and how competitive they are. Being this close to the deadline and with our limited staff, we are simply unable fulfill this request for everyone who asks.

If you are curious about your admission score/points, feel free to use the Prerequisite Advising Worksheet to get a general idea of how your grades and TEAS scores will be calculated. Please remember that the admission score you come up with may not be exactly the same as the admission score you have once your nursing application is actually processed. The College of Nursing staff know exactly what classes and TEAS scores that TWU will accept, according to our admission requirements.

Worksheet: https://www.twu.edu/media/documents/nursing/GPA-WS.XLSX

Instructions: https://www.twu.edu/media/documents/nursing/Instructions_for_Calculating_Nursing_GPA.pdf

3. For multiple TEAS attempts and course retakes, we use the most RECENT score/grade, whether it's higher or lower.

4. You do NOT need to submit transcripts to NursingCAS. All official transcripts need to be sent to TWU's Office of Admissions Processing: Transcripts - Texas Woman's University. If you are applying to multiple schools through NursingCAS, then you need to make sure to read the instructions for each individual school's application.

If you are wondering if TWU has received all of your transcripts, you can check your unofficial transcript in WebAdvisor to make sure all of your transfer coursework and grades are posted. You can do this by logging into your Pioneer Portal. Alternately, you can contact TWU's Office of Admissions Processing.

5. All correspondence about your nursing application will be sent to the email address you used to sign up for NursingCAS. Make sure to check your email, especially the spam/junk folder.

We hope this helps clarify some things. Best of luck! We are rooting for you!

:)

Hey everyone...so I finally retook my TEAS exam, but I still didn't do go enough to be competitive for the evening weekend program. I don't have the TWU bump nor do I have a bachelors degree so I know my chances of getting in are very slim but i'll still post my info:

Nursing GPA 3.72

TEAS Overall: 84.7

Reading: 70.2 (I honestly don't know how I did so "bad" in this section)

Math: 90.6

Science: 91.5

English: 87.5

I'm very doubtful of getting in, but I'll probably take the TEAS later on again and reapply apply next year for Fall 2019 unless I find a job where I'm able to attend a "traditional" program which then open up my possibilities to other schools.

I took the TEAS today and received a similar score as you. I am hoping they will take into consideration that we scored so high on Science (wishful thinking)! I applied anyway, but I am planning on retaking some of my pre-reqs in order to get a 4.0 instead of my current 3.72

Yea, im still applying too, but i'll probably retake A&P 2 over, I struggled in stats for that B lol so that might just have to stick unless I can find a teach with AWESOME reviews LOL, and yea I wish they would take that science into consideration!
