TWU Fall 2018 Nursing Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys, I know it's a little early, however, I decided to start this thread as the application process will be soon upon us.

How are you studying for the TEAS?

Wishing all the best! :)

Does anyone know the lowest number of points that was admitted to the Dallas trad. program last fall?

Hi y'all! Does anyone have access to the excel sheet? I saw that it was posted earlier in this thread, but the link only takes me to a place that says it can't be found on the TWU site. I would really appreciate the help! Thank you!

Application submitted. See y'all in August hopefully

Awesome! Hope to see you in August!

I haven't seen you post here before, would you mind sharing your stats with us?

Today is Feb 1st!!!

Hope everyone got their applications in on time. Now it's time to sit back and wait. And starting today I have a reminder on my phone to check my email every 3 days or so. Don't forget, once you get the email that you're in you only have a few days to reply. Last year emails went out in the fourth week of March, but I'm hoping we get word a little sooner this year. Waiting is the hardest part! Good luck to everyone!!!

Hello everyone!!! My first post!

I have one question and hope someone can help me answer!!

How long between the 1st attempt and 2nd attempt for TEAS should be? or it doesn't matter.

I believe it doesn't matter

I am not sure if it is school specific, but UTA says you cannot take any more often than every 30 days.

Hey everyone! I applied to the Dallas Traditional BSN program.

Here are my stats based on the worksheet:

Nursing Core GPA: 3.536

Pre-req GPA: 3.484

TEAS Overall Score: 96.7

Prior bachelors bump

My total points came out to 62.85 on the worksheet.

My GPAs are definitely below average, but i know my TEAS score was above average. Is anyone else in the same boat or know if this will balance out and hopefully result in admittance? Hoping for the best for all of you!

So disappointed. I took Teas for the second time and only received a 79% overall. I just can't get a high score in science. I bought the ATI study manual but alot of the questions weren't covered in the book. I have a bachelor's and did all prerequisites at TWU. Should I apply to the program?

I think you have a great shot. I was told TEAS is the most heavily weighed component and you did awesome on them! Plus you have a bump for the prior BA. From looking at past cycles, it seems like anyone with high 50s and up has excellent chances.

Yeah the science portion is heavily based on A&P and the book is not nearly as detailed enough to get you a good score unfortunately. I highly suggest using Khan Academy. I used all their science and some NCLEX prep videos to refresh my memory. Another amazing source is Crash Course on YouTube and Professor Fink on YouTube. Professor Fink has basically all of A&PII covered in lectures on YouTube. They are really long videos, but he goes into detail on the processes that you really need to understand to score high on the science. The ATI book just scratches the surface of the material.

That said, I think you should still apply and just see what happens. There's nothing to lose and everything to gain. Good luck!
