TWU Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

Hello! Just wanted to start a thread for those applying to the college of Nursing at Texas Woman's University. Who already goes there? What do you have left to take? Are you nervous... etc!

My name is Alli, I will start at TWU, not the nursing program, this summer. Moving to Denton with my husband. I can't wait!

misscupcake, I have applied, but I'm still trying to get my degree transcript to TWU - the school is a little late getting it put together, b/c I just completed everything in order to be core complete this past fall. So, I just don't want to miss being considered b/c I didn't get something in on time. It seems that there are more applicants for the Spring period, no?

Hello everyone!!

I am glad that I found this website to help answer some of my questions! I am applying to TWU as well and it's nice to talk to some others that are doing the same. I am a second-degree student applying to the Dallas campus. I literally took the TEAS two days ago and scored a 87.3. I am hoping that score is good enough to get in. I noticed that many of you scored in the 90's! Congratulations!!! Hopefully, we will all get accepted! :) To the people that haven't taken the test, don't stress too much over it. I bought the TEAS V study manual and found it very helpful! I also took the two online practice tests and actually found them to be harder than the actual test. My only advice is to avoid the timer! I freaked myself out at the beginning because of the countdown! I finished the application but am a little concerned because they only have some of my transcripts listed, even though I sent them in one bulk package. Is anyone else having this problem?

I have had the transcript issue as well, but just contact [email protected] with any questions, etc. They are awesome!!! Good luck!!!

chaos - Thanks for your post - you're right - everything you said was fine - I don't think I was reading 100% of what she asked - I just saw she was wanting specifics and so I think I "tuned" out. I know that sounds horrible, but thanks for posting that information.

Thank you so much! I just emailed them and hopefully they'll get back to me.

Hi Jodeface,

Thank you for the welcome! I think at this point I'll be happy with TCC! There's a campus in the HEB area, that's where I'm shooting for. Dallas would be a long commute for me. It'd be wonderful if we both got in there! The TCC deadline is March 1 and UT-Arlington is definitely out for me since I missed January 5th deadline. Plus the HESI test instead of TEASV. Are you all done with application?

Yes, I am all done with the application. I never thought about TCC because it would have taken me the same amount of time at either school (I already had a lot of credits that I earned a long time ago towards a useless associates degree) and with TCC you walk away with an associates degree right? I feel pretty good about my chances with TWU though. I'm just worried about the change in my life and extreme sacrifice that goes with nursing school that everyone mentions...will it really be that difficult?!?

OMG, you read my mind. I'm feel pretty sure I'll get in somewhere, so now I've moved on to freaking out about nursing school itself. And I love allnurses, but being on here doesn't always help with those fears, you know? It can be really comforting and positive, but it can also be scary as **** to read some of the things people post about school/nursing!

I'm single and don't have kids, so at least I can focus completely on school...but that also means I won't have as much of a support system. Anyway, at the moment I'm trying to read as much advice as I can...currently working on The Ultimate Guide to Getting Into Nursing School by Genevieve Chandler. I really like it so far...it's got advice on getting in (which is helping me write essays for other schools), but also how to handle it once you're in, and then transitioning from student to nurse. After this I'm moving on to How to Survive & Maybe Even Love Nursing School by Kelli Dunham. So...hopefully my current obsessiveness will pay off. ;)

I am also applying to TWU Fall 2011. Good Luck to All of you :)

I have a question. Is there a section where you guys can see how TWU calculated your GPA's or is it just from the excel worksheet provided?

Thanks

Whats ur guys TWU GPA?

Yea, they simply use the worksheet on the website (it's exactly what the administrators use when they look at you)...no other classes or grades matter.

Whats ur guys TWU GPA?

Mine is 4.124 (with the bump.)
