Oops, sorry tnButterfly...I didn't realize I had done something wrong. Won't happen again!

Hi everyone! I just finished last semester core complete with my associates and have applied for the fall 2011 term. It's a little nerve racking because I have classes that are 10+ years old that are pulling my GPA down a bit and I didn't get anything like your 95/96 TEAS scores. That is absolutely Awesome!!!! I am just going to keep my fingers crossed. Right now, I'm just trying to ensure my degree transcript gets there in time.....

Hello everyone!

I'm still very new to this site. I'm in the process of applying for Fall 2011 and will be taking TEAS-V on Wednesday next week! I'm a nervous wreck; I've been studying for only about a month, an hour or so here and there at night. I'm a SAHM with a 16 month old toddler and is going through a divorce at the same. I graduated with BS in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State 6 years ago! 6! I'm most worried about Science section as I'm very bad at memorization. TCC is my 2nd choice as I need flexibility and closer distance to home.

To those of you who had taken the test, what is the sections break out for TEAS-V i.e how many questions in Math, Reading, English Usage, and Science? The manual stated that there 40 in Reading, 45 in Math, 30 in Science, and 55 in English Usage. Are these correct?

Good luck to all of you!

Thanks

Misscupcake,

If you look at Tnbutterfly's response above, we can't give out specifics on the exam. When you take the exam you actually have to agree to those terms. My advice is to study the study guide in the sections you are concerned about. I wish you the best!! I'm sure you will do great!!!!

Hi TurboKerbow,

Oooh I didn't read Tnbutterfly's post before I posted my question. I'm sorry!! :-)

Yes, I've been studying Science sect like floozy bunnies! Thank you for the wish.

p.s have you applied or been accepted already?

This isn't actually a question about exam content/material, plus what you're asking for is publicly available information, so I think we can at least answer this. :) The breakdown you posted matches what UTMB's nursing school has on their website, but TWU's website says this:

  • The READING subtest covers paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions. (58 minutes with 48 questions)
  • The MATH subtest covers whole numbers, metric conversions, fractions and decimals, algebrais equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion. (51 minutes with 34 questions)
  • The SCIENCE portion of the exam covers science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, basic physical principles, and general science. (66 minutes with 54 questions)
  • The ENGLISH subtest measures knowledge punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling. (34 minutes with 34 questions)

Taken from here: http://www.twu.edu/nursing/bs-entrance-exam.asp. Maybe one of these is outdated information from a previous version of the test? I don't know where the discrepancy comes from, but personally I'd be inclined to trust ATI's study guide. Or you could try calling ATI, they know best! Good luck on the test!

Hi Miscupcake,

Good luck on your exam. I think you will find that it is easier than you think. It's really just a test of your general knowledge and therefore kind of hard to study for. You say TCC is your 2nd choice....I am also on the Tarrant County side. I hope we can get our clinicals over here and save the trip to Dallas. Maybe we will be in the same group if we both get in. Anyway, welcome to the site.

Hi Jodeface,

Thank you for the welcome! I think at this point I'll be happy with TCC! There's a campus in the HEB area, that's where I'm shooting for. Dallas would be a long commute for me. It'd be wonderful if we both got in there! The TCC deadline is March 1 and UT-Arlington is definitely out for me since I missed January 5th deadline. Plus the HESI test instead of TEASV. Are you all done with application?

Hi chaos0058,

Thank you for replying to my question! I did start a thread for that very question and got a response for it. Her response was the exact same one as yours as she'd just taken TEASV a few days ago. So I'll go with you numbers; you know how they say--hope for the best, prepare for the worst. This way I wouldn't be staring at the computer screen like a loony if you two were right and I wasn't prepared.

;-)
