TWU fall 2023 applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I am hoping to get a thread started for future Texas Woman’s University nursing students. I have been finishing up my pre requisites and planning to apply for fall nights and weekends. I would love to hear from other potential nursing students hoping to get into the TWU fall 2023 cohort.

You can take Patho before being accepted? My plan was to apply this application period, I have my application ready to submit. I just need to take the TEAS and there isn't any exams until 2/2/23. So bummed!

Yes you actually can. OMG, I took mine on Jan 9 cause I think they only open on specific day, maybe try to look up for the on-campus session ?

Perfect. I will sign up to get that class out of the way. I didn't even think about the on-campus. I was just looking under proctored. Thank you.

I took it last semester with Dr. Serrano, she was great and tests was based on lecture, extremely recommended her.

I just submitted it, did you reach out to them ?

Ye they said we do not submit it, just need to create general application to put you in line.

Yes! Im taking Pathophysiology at the Houston campus at the moment. It's going to be a great relief to not have to do it if I get accepted. It is a lot of information, and the course is online. Luckily the professor is offering in-person lectures once a week which is a real help.

Oh yeah I think you're right, there are also some scholarships for twu nursing students as well if you're interested in other opportunities than just the transferring one.

OK, just to confirm, with TWU, we don't have to submit anything regarding immunizations until after we are accepted. If we need to do boosters for anything, we can start that process after being accepted? I know for sure I'll need to do some titers because it's been a LONG time since my immunizations and I don't have any record of what I received as a kid.

I emailed TWU to ask if I should start the immunizations now, and this is what they said. I'm still worried ab Hepatitis shots. Should I start the hepatitis shots right now? Or wait until the acceptance?

Definitely start the hep b shots now! I took mine as a kid but I found out I still wasn't immune so I had to start over and you need 3 doses. The first two are a month apart and the third one you wait 5-6 months for.

My application has been verified. I know we have touched on this topic. It says my overall GPA is a 2.59. When I was 18-20 I have multiple semesters where I stopped taking classes and didn't drop them. So lots of Fs from over 15 years ago. My GPA at my current school is 4.0 which is all of the nursing pre reqs and everything I need for my associates. Hoping that overall doesn't hurt me since we need over 3.0. Has anyone else experienced this or spoken to TWU about it?

When did you submit your application? Just seeing how long it will take to be verified. I submitted mine on the 24th.

also I was told different about the 3.0 for overall.  They only look at the classes required and don't look at past classes that aren't required.  I have above a 3.0 for general but the GPA is much different than my current GPA and was told it is irrelevant! I think you're fine.

My NursingCAS application says "Verified", but it does not show me my GPA score. It lists my transcripts as "Arrived" underneath where is says verified. Where does it tell you your overall GPA?

I submitted my application on the 26th, and my NursingCAS says "not arrived" on my transcript. Is that okay??

I think they just take into consideration the nursing pre-reqs so you should be fine. Where did you find your overall GPA?
