Be there next Thursday to move in. Can't believe it has come so quick. Thanks to all who have given me some study tips and advice. Main piece of advice that I have been given is to not fall behind. Anyother piece of advice is welcome. TCRN, let me know when your PM's are cleared. Tried to PM you yesterday, but your account was full.

Get ready to study study study!!!!! Wesleyan's program was the hardest thing I ever did. I would never do it again. Tough. Tough. Tough. You'll study almost every single day, sometimes, 10hrs/day, depending on your retention and comprehension abilities. One word. Reinke. Fear him. Respect him. Prepare for his exams. They're tough. Trust me. But, the good side to all of this. I sat for boards in December 2003. I took the minimum number of questions. 90. The exam shut off in 25 minutes. Yes. I took 90 questions in 25 minutes. And, I scored a perfect number. 600. Didnt miss one question. So, TWU is tough. But, its well worth it at the end. Good luck.

I, too, will be attending the NA program at TWU this fall. I will be living on campus as recommended by some upperclassmen, although the dorms aren't that great. BTW, I visited the ...university this week...met the NA Program Director, John Maritin, Dr. Reinke, & a few others. They were all very nice & excited about the upcoming year. Also, the new NA building is very nice, esp. the human simulator. I look forward to meeting all of you!

I just finished the first year.
I don't think I would ever, ever do it again either. I also don't think my brain will ever revisit the capacity it did durring the last year. At times you will leave class with an impossible task before you. (when this happens you must make yourself sit down and start working on it). when the material begins to feel clear you will go to class and start all over.
Dr. Reinke gave some advice the first week of school which I practiced.
"Always come to class ready to test on yesterdays material" in other words just stay on top of the ball. don't get behind.
Remember this isn't your normal everyday schooling. He knows you, He knows where your from, when you see him in the hall he knows your last score on the test, he knows if you sit in the back or the front, he knows if you are taking notes in class or simply following along with the pre-printed notes. (don't do the latter) "he has no hobbies" this is his hobby. Show him your ready and willing to give it all you got and you will come out okay in the end.
The first week when you talk about the cell. Don't let the ease of the material fool you. it is meant to lull you into a paralysis.
get a good study habbit from the begging and stick to it.
good luck and I am glad I am not you. lol that sound harsh. I think, if you are like I was you just want to hear someone say "oh, its not that hard". I can't say that.
Anytime anyone has spoken to me about Dr. Reinke it has been very much in the context of what you are saying above. It's frightening. I finally met him as he was one of my interviewers. I plan to take the advice and stay on top of it.

Thanks for the advice as it definitely helps us enter the right frame of mind. A couple of questions, if you don't mind answering: did you take completely separate notes in class and then use them in conjunction with the pre-printed notes? and what study habit helped you the most? Thanks again for your time as I am sure you are preparing for clinicals in less than two weeks.

Best thing I could recommend you doing is taking your own notes in class and using them with the preprinted notes. I would not sit and follow along with the preprinted notes when he lectures. I know people who did that but it makes it very easy to not pay attention. Good luck to you all. I however would go through it again unlike some of my classmates. It is very hard but very doable if you work at it!
