Trying to get into Bowie State nursing program.

Published

I'm a pre-nursing student right now and I plan on transferring to Bowie State and I really want to get into their nursing program, but i only have a 3.3. Anybody know my chances of getting in with that low of a GPA? and how difficult the program is and experiences?

Important to look at the passing rates for the colleges as that will show you how good of training and preparation the college will give you so you can pass your state boards the first time. Just search passing rate at the college. Below is the stats for 2014.

3.3 sounds pretty high for bowie and you should have no problem. May want to consider a school that will prepare you better as Bowie came in 3rd from the bottom

Thanks for the helpful info and yeah your right there's is pretty low I think I was just trying to pick the easiest one since i feel kinda bad for it being my 4th year in college starting fall semster and still haven't gotten into nursing program yet.

I got in the program with a gpa lower than that, let's just say way lower BUT ALL my science and math courses was all A's and B's and that is REALLY what they look at. I start this fall. Good luck!

Hey we're u able to get in ? I'm seeking admission there for 2016 either accelerated or traditional doesn't matter to me .

That's what I'm Trying to get into now I didn't get in for 2015 because I learned the admissions office never processed my spring classes so it made it look like I applied without finishing all the prerequisites.

See that's the crazy thing on my end too . I have all pre reqs done except bio 102 and college algebra . Idk why they're making me taking bio 102 if I have micro , chem , and ap1&2 that's backwards to me .. But I was gonna take college Algebra there in the winter but they only have one section open and it's at times that I work so I can't take it . Same with the the classes in the spring they're all offered at times I work . And they only have one section of bio 102 available . Do you think they'll allow me to take the two courses somewhere else and transfer them in ?

Yea all those classes are transferable just make sure whatever school you go to credits are equivalent to theirs.

Does anyone know like the acceptance gpa for the traditional program looks like. I will be applying for the fall of 2016. And what Gpa did the students from the year before get in with, do they look at overall gpa or just the science gpa

If you dont mind what was your gpa and what did you get in your science and math courses. Did you apply for the traditional or accelerated. Sorry for all the questions I am just nervous.

Hey how are you my science gpa is 3.0 and my cumalative is over 3.0 but the funny thing is I've heard they don't use outside gpa , you have to establish a gpa at Bowie by taking courses there and I think that's what they'll use .. These are the things that many students don't know or that's not posted via their webpage. I'm really not sure of the gpa they want u to have but I do know I spoke with a girl who got in this year and she said she had a 3.5 science gpa and 3.0 overall with all her courses so I guess that's around what they want. I applied for traditional and I was told courses could be in progress as the time of submission , but I got denied two years back to back and was told it was because I still had classes to take to I'm not exactly sure of their process I'm actually confused a little /
