Trinitas Nursing 130 waiting list

That sucks!! I'm going to the school on the 28th to find out what I need to take. I already have a BA in a non-nursing field and I just want the diploma in nursing. I probably won't take 130 in the fall..but is it offered in the spring also? If you are in-county..how much are the credits? I missed the open house..and I need to talk to an enrollment specialist soon. I'm not registered for any of the classes yet..when is the last day, I wonder.

It looks like we are all in the same boat! I, too, am on the waiting list for 130. I was told I'm number 80 or something. This is what I know:

This is the first year they have a waiting list, and as of a few weeks ago they did not know exactly what they are going to do with it. Very few slots will open up for fall. They do not want to open another class because it will just have a domino effect: all subsequent nursing classes will have more students trying to get in. When we get to the clinical classes (nur 132, and so on) they can have a max of 10 people in each class. However, there usually isn't a waiting list for those classes because the people in 130 and 131 slowly get "weeded out" by dropping out or not getting a good enough gpa to continue on.

It gets worse: if we want to enroll in 130, unless they use the waiting list for enrollment (which I have not heard they plan to as of now) we MUST get to one of the campuses early early -- like about 8:00 pm the night before or earlier. I heard for fall people got there as early as 5:00 pm the day befoe. Once they opened the doors for registration there was some pushing and a riot almost broke out at the Elizabeth and Cranford campuses! I'm not kidding - I heard this from people who were there. They finally convinced the counselors to use a list they started the night before so that no one could cut in line.

Anyway, unless they decide to use the waiting list to enroll people for 130, I plan on camping out the night before. I wouldn't mind getting to know someone else who intends to do so ahead of time and we can keep one another company since it will be a long night - and it will also be very cold if they keep us outside (it will be December!)

I didn't even know there was a waiting list. I called the school when I received my acceptance letter and the person I spoke too just told me that I may have to wait a semester to enroll in NURE 130, because of the large amount of people that want to take the course. If that's the case, why do they accept such large of amount of students into the program if they can't accomodate them all????. For me, I'm in a dilemna, I was accepted into ECC's nursing program for the Fall. Yesterday I saw a friend of mine, that I haven't seen in awhile. She is a nurse and she told me that I shouldn't go to ECC for nursing. She told me to go to Trinitas.....the serious look in her face made me worry. Am I making the right decision by going to ECC...for me it's cheaper and their NCLEX passing rates (for the the first time) are great....I don't know...what should I do? Any advice would be appreciated.

What were her reasons for recommending Trinitas instead of ECC?? Trinitas has an excellent passing rate also. Is it just a lot of people are tryin to enter the nursing field? Is that why there is such an influx of people?

Why do you want ONLY a diploma in nursing. If you already have a BA why don't you want a BSN??? There has been some debate over the last few decades but again BSN entry for NEW nurses is really the way to go and has been the most recommended and possibly mandated route.

An administrator from Trinitas called me back yesterday. She told me that there is no longer a list. Anyone who wants to take NURE 130 will have to try for the Spring 2005 semester. I asked her if they will have online registration up by then, she said she hopes so, but she wasn't sure....I would have to call the college and inquire about that.

2 reasons why I don't want to get a BSN now. One..why pay for it when I can get my diploma..start working..and have my employer pay for it, if I decide to get a BSN. I worked at a hospital and the nurses with BSNs didn't have the clinicial experience as the ones with just the ADN. I mean..they had the theory down and could write a good paper..but weren't as prepared as those who just went for the ADN (this is MY experience only). I'd rather hone my skills first with the diploma and then decide to get the BSN later..with my employer paying for it.

And second..I may not want a BSN. I am only interested in being a staff nurse, right now..I don't want to go into managerial. So, unless that's a requirement for being a staff nurse, why waste the money? If I change my mind later..so be it. I'll get my employer to pay for it. I don't have time to spend money just for the heck of it. The diploma program will cost me way less than the BSN programs.

Thanks for the info. I just called to check up on the waiting list (and to see what the deal is) for nur 130 and the person I spoke with said that everyone on the list would get a call in July to tell us whether or not they opened up a new session.

When you called, did you ask to be put on the list? Is that when they said there is no longer a list?

I kind of hope that registration doesn't go online next semester, just for the simple fact that it is easier to stand in line and KNOW that you are among the first in line to register for the class than to try to register online when the website keeps crashing because so many people are trying to register for nur 130 at the same time. I think there would be a higher chance for problems to come up if registration goes online, especially for the first semester. I'll probably still go in person to register.

Does anyone know if any of the classes (Nure 130 and others) are offered during the summer? I know have to be taken in sequence but I don't want to have to lose out on a semester if they aren't offered in the summer and I can't take 130 this Fall semester.

I'm pretty sure none of the nur classes are offered during summer. I'm sure the clinical classes are not offered during summer.

Nursing 130 is offered in summer as it is not a clinical semester.

It's fundamentals in Nursing.
