Tri-C in Cleveland

U.S.A. Ohio

A while ago I posted asking about the nursing program application process at Tri-C. I just wanted to update that I received acceptance into the Spring 2010 semester :D. The process was actually pretty fast. I am very excited. Hope to hear from others that will also start at Tri-C in the Spring.

NewStart2010:yeah:

Thanks, I'll do that!

What I mean is that Tri-C isn't the most organized program in the world. The most recent nightmare we had to deal with was the mandatory hospice observation scheduling in 2500. We were in the evening program because most of us work days. Tri-C put out the schedule and most of the observations were during the day. We (and our employers) moaned and groaned, but made arrangements and started the semester. Halfway through they completely changed the hospice schedule and didn't tell any of us until a week later. Some students missed their experience and others had, literally, 24 hours to tell their employers that the schedule had changed and they needed the next day off.

There really are many examples, but this is the most recent one that made us crazy.

I can't speak to that, but Tri-C is at the mercy of when the Hospice sites say they are willing to take students. Unfortunately those times are typically during the day.

Yeah, I get that, which is why I said we were fine with the original schedule. It was a pain for us, but as you said, it was because the sites could only take on students during the day.

However, the schedule change was completely Tri-C's fault and had nothing to do with the hospice sites. In fact, most of the hospice sites were unaware of the changes, as well! If you want the full reasoning for the mix-up, it's a long story that I got straight from the course coordinator who did the scheduling--no rumors here. PM me if you really want the whole story...

Basically, the person should have known the course scheduling and by the time the original schedule was said and done, it should have been left as-is. I shouldn't really complain, especially since my date didn't change and I lucked out and got an evening time, but the whole situation messed up a lot of people and got at least one girl I know fired.

And again, it's just one example of many mix-ups and last minute changes that happened at Tri-C. You learn to go with the flow and realize that it's only a small amount of time and none of it matters when you get that degree!

Thanks, I'll do that!

PSHHHH, we already KNOW THAT! It all started when I took my A2, faxed the receipt as they requested then 2 weeks later when I called to get an update on it, they said they did not receive it. BS! I printed my fax transmission sheet and it said it went thru. So, I PDF'd it and faxed it 4 TIMES. That was when I knew I had to get them my info thru more than one source. We have orientation this week and they want all of that paper work... Physical, agreements, DARS, NEONI score, etc. I have a total of 23 pages. I faxed it AND PDF'd it to the office and asked the gal I emailed it to, to let me know if I am missing anything, so come orientation, they cant say, "well you dont have this or that!"

Also, a few weeks ago when we got our first communications on vaccinations, I was told by one of the head girls in the nursing office that I needed a Polio Titer. It wasnt on the list, but I figured since she told me, I had to get it. Come to find out that i DID NOT need it, "Oh, sorry, I misspoke, it was taken off recently".... okay, so if this titer isnt covered by my insurance, and its $250 (from what I heard!) then SOMEBODY is going to have to give me some Tri-C credit for that cuz thats bull. I know that some of the girls in that office dont know their whatever from a hole in the ground. Everyone you talk to has a different answer. So frustrating!! :banghead:

Scott, thanks for letting us know, "... everything is spelled out in the ADN handbook". I actually was bored one day and read it!

This is really off topic, but does anyone know if tri-c's lpn program has some type of pinning/graduation ceremony? Just a random thought..

Yes, they have a pinning ceremony.

How long does it take the school to review your BCI results? I completed the BCI and A2 test in June. Should I hear back soon?

They tend to process things in batches. When the next batch will be I have no idea.

It takes a few weeks. Call them, send them emails. Hound them to get your answers :)

Less than 40 days until Fall 2012 semester of Nursing starts at Tri-C. Who is starting and what campus are you going to? Where is your clinical location?
