Tri-C in Cleveland

Published

A while ago I posted asking about the nursing program application process at Tri-C. I just wanted to update that I received acceptance into the Spring 2010 semester :D. The process was actually pretty fast. I am very excited. Hope to hear from others that will also start at Tri-C in the Spring.

I agree with futuremale-rn that you should call the Nursing Office, but also login to MyTri-cSpace and make sure that your contact information under "My Info" is correct. You may have made a typographical error that sent your email to the wrong address.

Hi everyone,

I'm waiting on my application, hoping to get into Fall 2012. I'm 48 so I'm quite anxious to start.

Couple questions for anyone who knows:

1) I got an email from nursing dept that my background check was necessary, but I sent that in months ago and have a receipt email from them. I replied with a copy of the original email with the receipt but haven't heard yet. Should I call or wait? How long is the usual wait to get the application after you get a email that your grades qualify you?

2) I've got kids in school and a husband who travels a lot. I'm not sure which campus I should try for. I hear that for the day programs some clinicals start at 7am but I have to get my youngest off to school. Night is hard too because without my husband home, I have to help with homework, cook dinner, etc for the kids. I can't leave them alone and don't have any family around. I know it's going to be hard either way but am trying to figure out the best option. Anyone else who's a single parent or with a spouse who's gone a lot done this? Any advice?

Thanks! :)

They specified to fax the background check, not sure why so if you scanned then emailed they might not accept it??? I would fax the background check asap then call to make sure they rec'd. You list your choices but you might not even get what you want. I am 47 and going into the LPN to RN access track starting in January. Luckily my kids are grown so I don't have your issue but if your going to go through with this you better have a good support system. I have to work so I will be killing myself as well. I think it will be worth it...Goodluck to you!!

Thanks. I did get confirmation finally that they had my background check.

Glad to hear there's someone over 40 who's also going into the RN program in some fashion. I think you're right about the support system. My parents are gone and my brother lives in another state. Looks like I better make some really good friends quick. LOL

How old are your kids? If they are old enough to be alone, maybe you can have a neighbor check in on them. I wouldn't suggest the evening program if you have teenagers, they are more trouble than little ones. When they are teenagers, they need a parent around monitoring activities in the evening or they could go down the wrong path.

You purchase it through Tri-C at any campus business office.

Hey Scott, How do you show proof of childhood immunizations? If you can't get a hold of it do they make you repeat them? Do you recommend faxing information to them or should I hand deliver? I have read on other threads that they loose forms. Thanks for your help!!

Usually if you can't find proof, yet know you got them you can have titers done to check for immunity. That's what I had done. Went to my physician and got a form for the titers to be drawn, went to the lab had my blood drawn. Then my physician filled out the Tri-C form. Then I faxed it over to Tri-C. I've never had any problems with of my stuff getting lost.

I know most of you took the Neoni test already, I am not finding this according to their directions on BB. Please help!

Hi Lee J A,

First, you sign in to blackboard. Then, you go to the course search tab at the top. Next, type in 'orientation' in the search box. The link to join should be the third one listed. If I remember correctly, it's a password to join, which was probably given to you in your email. Once you join, it should be listed in blackboard amongst your current courses. Hope this helps.

Yeah well I guess I shouldn't have spoken so soon. Apparently my annual Single PPD documentation was either misfiled, lost, or something. So I got a nice email saying that I wouldn't be allowed to attend clinical. Fortunately I documented everything. So it was just a matter of submitting my my documentation yet again.
