Tri-C in Cleveland

U.S.A. Ohio

A while ago I posted asking about the nursing program application process at Tri-C. I just wanted to update that I received acceptance into the Spring 2010 semester :D. The process was actually pretty fast. I am very excited. Hope to hear from others that will also start at Tri-C in the Spring.

NewStart2010:yeah:

I did receive the information yesterday. I finished BCI, but waiting for A2 test info. This semester I'm taking AP1 - Barbar and Pharmacology and Medical terminology.

Specializes in Wound Care.

I am taking A&P 1 also but on-line, I already had it years ago and now I have to retake it. I had to get special permission to take the Micro at the same time and I am also taking Sociology. Why are you taking pharmacology now?

I figure sooner the better and it'll help me when actual nursing classes start.

Just scheduled for A2 exam on Sep 8. Thought it would be right away, but have to wait until next month. -_-

That isn't very long of a wait at all, to be honest. I had to wait almost a month for my exam.

Specializes in Cardiology and ER Nursing.

I'm guessing you are taking HTEC-1620 or whatever the number is. The course is really designed for Health Information Management majors. It gives you a very light overview of different classes of medications, but it doesn't go into anything very deeply. Not on the level you'll go into in the nursing program. A course that I found valuable was Bio 2600 - Pathophysiology.

I took the HTEC pharmacology course at Tri-C and I am now taking my first of two pharmacology classes in my RN program (Columbus State). It didn't help me at all. Nursing pharmacology is very different than what I thought it was going to be. It isn't as much about knowing all the different drugs and what they do and how to give them as knowing how to apply the basics of the prototypes to the nursing process. I'm with ScottE - go with pathophysiology. That will be a HUGE help! We are required to take it.

I didn't see that this was a requirement. Is is one of the nursing classes?

No. It is not a requirement for nursing majors nor is it a nursing course.

The HTEC course is a requirement for Health Information Management majors as is Biology 2600.

I've taken both the HTEC course and Biology 2600 though over the summer for no other reason than I can.

I'll say that the HTEC course is useless for nursing students. The 2600 course though is worth taking.

How long does it take for Elsevier to respond to your email for eligibility to take the A2? I know the information from Tri-C said at least 3 days, but it's been over a week now. I want to schedule my test!

I think you should either call Elsevier to see what's going on, or possibly re-send it. Keep us updated! GL!
