Tri-C in Cleveland

Published

A while ago I posted asking about the nursing program application process at Tri-C. I just wanted to update that I received acceptance into the Spring 2010 semester :D. The process was actually pretty fast. I am very excited. Hope to hear from others that will also start at Tri-C in the Spring.

NewStart2010:yeah:

Hi! I am new to this post and just stared working on my pre-reqs for the nursing program. I already have my BA but still need to take my science classes :) Could any of you guys recommend a good biochem professor from either the metro or western campus? THANKS!!!

Apparently everyone has hated this lady who teaches the anthropology class. She's the only one that does it online though so I had no choice. Pharm professor has no reviews, but again... the only one that teaches it. Very poor selection of professors on Tri-C's part. Who hires an EMT to teach Pharmacology for LPNs? He has no clue about nursing.

I had an outstanding teacher. I had him for A&P I but apparently sometimes he also teaches Bio 1100 and also A&P II. His A&P I class was by no means easy, but he makes it clear what you'll need to know for the exams and explains it in a way that's understandable.

Edit: I had him at Western/Parma Campus

I'll play devil's advocate here. Who wants to teach a Pharmacology class for LPN's? I won't defend most of Tri-C's policies or hiring practices, but sometimes so and so might be the only person who wants to teach a class. Sometimes they get put between a rock and a hard place. It's between either we let person X teach the class who we know is terrible or we cancel the class at the last minute. Screwing over all the students that signed up for the class.

The professor stated he's been teaching the course for many years. So apparently other students took it and didn't really care/understand all the incorrect information in the class, or this is just a bad semester for him. I still think they should find a nurse to teach a pharmacology for nurses class though.

Apparently, if you have a kid with allergies, the most important thing to do is rip up all the carpet. Even more important than stop smoking around the kid, visit an allergist, or get rid of the dog causing the allergy. My mom is an allergist and she literally laughed when I showed her the question/answer. We had a question about something cardiac related and my aunt is a nurse in a cardiac ICU and I asked her about it in 4/1/10 and she honestly thought the professor was pulling an April Fool's joke on us. He wasn't.

To make matters worse, even when he will admit he's wrong, he won't change the right answer. You have to learn and remember the wrong answer for the cumulative exams.

Thank you ScottE! My sister in law took him too for A&P and loved him!!! Unfortunately he is not teaching biochem in the fall...dang it!

Is ----- teaching biochem in the fall? I had her and she was great -- western campus. She teaches an online section that you come in for labs and exams, but she is so accessible and explains everything very well.

just a gentle reminder to please not post names.

per the terms of service, under the basic terms of service:

"while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.

please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs."

thank you! :)

I've got a list of who's good and who to avoid if you are interested. Although who's actually teaching what and when changes from semester to semester. There are only a handful of full time faculty over there.
