Tri-C in Cleveland

Published

A while ago I posted asking about the nursing program application process at Tri-C. I just wanted to update that I received acceptance into the Spring 2010 semester :D. The process was actually pretty fast. I am very excited. Hope to hear from others that will also start at Tri-C in the Spring.

NewStart2010:yeah:

Also, PM me if you'd like the names of my two bad luck professors this semester!

Letter arrived today for those that took the HESI A2 in March.....still placing Fall of 2011. The letter is complete with the new admission requirements, i.e. the background check...I am not sure why those already accepted aren't grandfathered in and have to do this background check asap....foreverlaur -- did you get a letter like scotte did to tell you to get this check done or are you assuming that you will get one?

I'm going to guess that Fall2011 Will be filled up by late May early June. When those students finish up the prereqs. My advice for those students is to call down to the nursing program the day that grades post to get the letter to take the HESI. Take that ASAP. If you want to get in Fall2011 and not Spring 2012.

Also I looked at what background check turned up and it turns out I'm not a criminal! That was a real big surprise to me!

ScottE, did you get a copy of the report for the background check? I recently registered for the background check and am curious about the process.

The letter came yesterday. I just moved and I'm still paying double and rent and just adopted a dog so even if I could pass, I can't afford the $85 right now. I very carefully plan my budget and I didn't have that budgeted in for a few more months and I simply can't swing it financially right now regardless. I informed Tri-C and they seemed happy to have a student dropping out, so no loss to them!

I'm sure someone will be thrilled to start a semester earlier and it is definitely in the cards for you to stay in Columbus. Let us know when you get your acceptance to CSCC.

On another note, I have yet another interview for a nurse aide position..What do these people want to hear? I was passed up last time for someone with an STNA license, but that was also a full-time position. I really want the job -- it is a surgical floor -- lots to learn -- and 16 hrs a week from 10pm -630 am -- absolutely perfect for me. I have no patient care experience, havent done a clinical rotation yet - but I was a flight attendant for 7 yrs, so I have the customer care/helping people thing down. The reason I finally got in for interviews is my brother who is a doctor at the hospital went over to HR and told them his sis, who is working toward an RN, would love to work there etc. He also had his nurses ask around to find openings. Advice appreciated.

I talked a lot about my customer service experience and what I learned. I talked a lot about my passion for excellent patient care. I talked a lot about how valuable the STNA position in. The small little things the STNA does is the world to the patient. You need to recognize and value your position (or at least make them think you do haha). I also think being a STNA prior to being a RN is great. I can always tell the nurses that were in that position and those that weren't and I think you will be a better nurse because you were a STNA first.

thanks...I have had some great nurse aides when I was in the hospital myself...the best ones smiled a lot and asked if I needed anything etc,. I know I can do well at this job and it will make me a better nurse one day.

Just continually emphasize your knowledge of the role, that you recognize and value the role, how you will impact the patient lives, how you don't view it as "dirty" but a very honorable role to touch a life every day, and how you feel it will make you a better nurse someday.

They email you a username/password when you register basically some letters and numbers that you use to log into the site. You go to http://www.verifystudents.com/ click on the "Report Retrieval " (it's right below the Start Here circle and to the left of clinical sites.) And then open up the .pdf that will be your complete background check. You'll want to use internet explorer firefox blocks the popup. Print that you and there you go.

Thanks, ScottE.
