Tri-C in Cleveland

Published

A while ago I posted asking about the nursing program application process at Tri-C. I just wanted to update that I received acceptance into the Spring 2010 semester :D. The process was actually pretty fast. I am very excited. Hope to hear from others that will also start at Tri-C in the Spring.

Got my letter on Saturday filled the stuff out and sent it back this AM. I decided to go with the generic program over the accelerated program. I can start the generic program Spring 2011 and finish Fall of 2012 or start the accelerated in Fall of 2011 and finish Fall of 2012. I figured I can use the summers off.:p

I talked to the nursing department today and they said the reason the evening/weekend program filled up so fast (and people won't drop out) is because students that have failed out and need to be replaced all get placed in the evening/weekend program. Sorta glad I didn't end up there I guess!!

They also said that once I complete the prerequisites for the accelerated program that I will have to call the program and leave a voicemail again for my application to be reviewed. Once I receive my letter to take the entrance test, I need to call the program and tell them I have already taken it and wait til the end of the month for my scores to my resent and then wait for another application in the mail and then I can be placed into the accelerated program.

So, I'll be starting Spring 2011. I'd like my summers off too. The hospitals in Cleveland have some great summer programs to get great experience to help with getting a job upon graduation.

The Evening/Weekend stuff is all over on the Eastern Campus from what I understand. Which would be an hour commute for me. Metro isn't that bad at 30 minutes. Although it'll probably be more like an hour in the morning. Too bad they don't have any nursing classes at the Western "Parma" campus. That's only about 15 minutes away.:crying2:

I second that!! Although I went apartment searching in Parma and it looks to be an awful place to live. The Eastern campus would probably be better because you would be able to avoid rush hour traffic although the East campus is more in the snow belt... can't win! :)

Did they happen to mention if there was any chance that any of the current evening/weekend students would be dropping out? I just got my application yesterday and obviously there is only a choice for Fall 2011 for Evenings, so that's what I'll do.

When I asked them what the odds are of someone dropping out, they said very slim because most of the students aren't new students but those who failed out who are being replaced to try again.

Everyone has gotten their application but me!! I called Tri-C yesterday and they said mine was mailed out on Friday but the mail came today and I still haven't gotten it!! It wouldn't be as big of a deal, but I'm worried about Spring 2011 filling up and each day is another 20+ students who get their application in before me :(

Western North Royalton or anywhere in Strongsville is decent. It's pretty much a straight shot up 71 to Tri-C Metro.

Mine was probably mailed out the same day as yours. Only seeing as my packet only had to go about 15 to 20 miles I got it the next day. The USPS is pretty slow these days. You'll probably get yours tomorrow.

Ahh going nuts!! My mom mailed me a package via USPS yesterday and I got it today. I REALLY REALLY want my application from Tri-C!! I'm definitely going to call and ask them to re mail it tomorrow if it doesn't come. Things do sometimes get lost.

I received my application today. It was mailed yesterday according to the stamp on the envelope. It says to return via certified mail. Did everyone actually pay to have to mailed via certified mail or did you just send it regular mail?

To be honest.. I didn't even know the difference.. lol. All I noticed was it said it couldn't be faxed. Anyways, I sent mine via regular mail this morning.

Certified Mail is an extra $2.80. The person has to sign for it to receive it and you get confirmation of delivery.

It states on the request for placement form in big bold letters "Students will not be accepted into the program unless the Request for Placement Form, Program Application, and Ohio Board of Nursing Criminal Records Check form are all returned via certified mail."

I guess I am off to the post office!
