My husband and I are considering purchasing a RV. Is there anyone out there that is travel nursing and using an RV?
I can't believe I found this! Thanks for the ideas. I was an ICU traveler for 3 years and just last year went staff here in San Diego. I like my job (especially the benefits) but I have the itch to travel again. I was thinking about just getting an RV and then putting my housing stipends towards it. In the end I'd own an RV and have flexibility in what I wanted to do.
Just FYI, when I was in LA, my agency accidentally sent me the hospital contract. The hospital was paying $86/hr for me and I was getting $48 of that. Still kinda makes me sick.
Yes I am travel nursing and stay in a mobile home park with my 5th wheel. I did not want to chance the housing I might get. I have heard a lot of bad stories about the "supplied housing". I love the privacy and freedom.
How do you work it out with mobile home parks? I'm thinking of taking a contract in WI from Sept to Dec. and the campgrounds will all be closing in october, so I think I'll have to find a way to stay in a mobile home park.

What area of Wisconsin? I live in central Wisconsin and could try to find a place for you and your RV over the winter if you are coming to my area.
Join the FB group "Travel Nursing Newbies"....also, "Full-time RVers"....lots of travel nurses with RVs on both sites!! I just joined myself, as hubby and I are planning on doing the same thing as soon as I gain enough experience after graduation to feel comfortable jumping in to a new environment!

Housing and travel are deductible as business expenses if you maintain a tax home. They are not if the RV is your home.
