Hi there

greatful of any comments...

Even if you are US Nurse/Midwife then all feedback appreciated :clown:

I moved your post to the International Froum where it is more appropriate. The travel forum is more for nurses looking to do travel contracts in the US.

You will get more response here.

thanks suzanne!

If you do a search here, on this forum, you will find several posts about this same location, just within the past few months.

I know a very reputable recruitment company who deploy nurses to the UAE. It's a husband & wife team, not a big corporate company, and they are both nurses who have worked for many years in the Middle East themselves. If you want their contact details, let me know and I'll send to you via PM :)

please do - that would be great! thank you!

Hi, there! I am working in UAE and I think you dont need to go for an agency. There r many hospitals that will do overseas reqruitment.

R u a nurse or a mifwife and why did u chose Dubai and not Abu Dhabi? It is a tax free place and american and british nurses are paid muuuuch better than us, eastern europeans.

hi

Thought i would take the opportunity to ask you a few questions! Hope you dont mind:clown:

is it advisable not to go through an agency?

Do you get free accomodation?

What is better UAE or Dubai? - what is the lifestyle like?

Where are you from originally?

How much do UK/US nurses get money wise?

What is management like? Are you supported enough etc?

I have looked into Dubai as it seems to be the place that everyone raves about. I am a Nurse not a midwife

I am from Bulgaria and I 've been here for more than 7 years. I am working in Abu Dhabi and I, personaly love it. Abu Dhabi is the capital and the emirate of Abu Dhabi is much bigger. The city of Abu Dhabi is smaller than Dubai though. Abu Dhabi is quite, cheeper and u dont spend much time on traveling. Dubai, though my family is there I dont like to go there. Bad traffic, long distances, very expensive taxies and there r so many places where u spend ur money... Another thing is the accommodation. More expensive than in Abu Dhabi.

Hospitals (government, only) usually provide u with an accommodation or give u allowance and u take whatever appartment u like. Than, they give u(most of the cases) furniture allowance. Ur salary is without any taxes, so u make lots of money. There r maaaany brithish and american nurses here and the salary depends on what hospital u r working and which department u r in. We dont normally ask each other about our salaries, coz of the racism (the worst here) in the salaries. Brithish and american nurses will take 3-6 times more thn us, Between 10- 18000 dhs. 1$ is 3.68 dhs. I read somewhere a comparison between salaries in Canada and here. The numbers were smthg like in Canada-13000$ a year (savings), here 30000$ savings...

I am sure u will like it. I came for 2 years and 7 passed without feeling it.

Many bars, drinking, beautiful weather, except august and september...

Menagement r always happy to have western staff on board and they r protective...

Hope this was helpful.

hi again

yes that was really useful - thanks :clown:

so, is it REALLY expenive in Dubai? like how expensive? I feel I am now torn between Abu Dhabi.

Can you give me some examples?

Julie

Dear, Julie, Dubai is a beautiful place to live but expensive. I take a taxi for 4 dhs. to go to work in Abu Dhabi, my sister in law takes a taxi for 25 dhs in Dubai. Dubai doesnt suit my personality too. I hate wasting my time in traffic and it takes forever to cross by car one of the main streets. Abu Dhabi is smaller as a town and bigger as an emirate. I have everything under my building or within a minute or two walk and I like it. I dont have to take half an hour to go to work and the sam etime to come back... It is worse in pick hours. Another think is the places u spend ur money... In Dubai they r plenty places to do shoping and it is very tempting.

If u r coming to save money, it maybe better to think about Abu Dhabi. Again, it is my opinion. My family lives in Dubai and I am coming to visit them only. I would not like to work here.

Regards

Hello everybody! Nice to meet you!

I'm also a nurse looking for job in Dubai.

By the way, I'm Brazilian and did all my studies in Brazil, but I've been living in Istanbul for 8 months.

I did look for a job on Dubai's newspaper, and yes, there are lots of them. Some I couldn't understand, because they ask for a nurse on "husband's sponsorship". Is it something related to VISA issues? Or they just don't want to give you benefits as house allowance, car, etc? Could you help me to understand it?

And also there's another question: what's MOH and DOH license?

There are some agencies, but only for western or US/ Canadian trained staff.

So if you can help us more... I'm still a kind of lost about looking for a job here. I don't know in which hospital look for informations about careers...

Thanks a lot!

Kind regards!
