Transferring nursing credits after failing out

Unfortunately I flunked out of nursing school. My school offered to start me from the beginning and I'm under the impression that all programs will do the same. I'm hoping to find a program that will transfer my classes. Does anyone have any insight on this situation or better yet know of any schools that do transfer students?

Nursing schools' curriculum varies between schools. BONs give schools requirements and it is up to the individual schools how they want to structure their program. Some schools have a separate Medical Terminology class, others incorporate it into each class. Some schools have a separate pharmacology class, others incorporate it into all their classes. My school had the OB and Peds class combined starting with maternity in the first half of the semester and Peds in the second half. Other schools had a separate Maternity and Peds classes. Nursing programs are designed for a student to complete their entire program instead of piece it together from different schools.

I know of NO schools that will accept nursing credits from another school. This is true across the country. You will likely be starting over.

My advice would be to be grateful for the opportunity and use this experience to build upon your previous work and become a focused, superior nursing student.

A classmate who started at another nursing school was only able to transfer the nursing fundamentals course, and those two schools were in the same system. Nursing schools do not accept nursing courses from other schools. However, I was able to use previous nursing courses as a basis to take offered exams for advanced placement at one school. That was a unique policy at the time that the nursing program eventually eliminated. You are lucky that the school is allowing you to start over. Take advantage of the opportunity.

You would have to call the school you are looking to transfer to and find out if they would accept the credits. That's the only way to know for sure. You might have a better chance just staying at your school and starting the program over, or appealing the decision if that is possible.

You need to jump on that. It is very unusual to be offered that anywhere after failing out. Usually it is one and done...pick a new career.

Why do you want to transfer rather than go back to the college you flunked out of? Is it pride, or is there something else stopping you? I would grab the opportunity - being offered to start over is very rare!
