Torrance Memorial Medical Center RN Residency

Hi!!

Has any applicants had a call back yet? anybody got offered a position for March 2011?

Thanks!:D

Thanks so much for the kind words! The interviews were definitely not more than 15 minutes. There were 11 people being interviewed on that day and I think she said just over thirty people will be interviewed in all. Seems like a lot of people for only 12 positions. I am a little suprised they didn't try to reduce the numbers more at the preliminary interview. I do know we are all given a score and the people with the highest scores get positions. Of course I have no idea exactly what they were looking for to get those high scores!! I am sure you will do great!

No problemo!! :D and thanks for your motivation too!!! haha i guess wen they say its about 15 minutes, they really mean it! and 11 people waiting in line to be interviewed!?!??! loll im so shocked that its just making me laugh~~ and because they said it'll be just over 30 people, maybe there'll be around 11 people on tuesday and friday each, too~ haha! i'll be looking forward to that~~ :uhoh3: and how DO you get high scores???? ahhhh!!! me soooo scareddd!!! i just hope that they'll be really nice and not intimidating :D hehehehehehe~~~

For the people who went on Friday, did any of you have the panel interview with 7 unit managers?

I thought I remember hearing that everyone only interviewed with three managers on Friday. That seems to be a dissadvantage to me.

How did everyone else think their interviews went?

After reading this blog I'm starting to get a little nervous! I'm going to apply to the March 2012 cohort. I graduate in December and currently work as a Nurse tech at Torrance Memorial. Iv'e meet lots of people while working there and think I have a pretty good chance of getting in..... but who knows! I recently heard they may not even have a cohort next year d/t $$$ issues. Don't really believe that since there is 7 months till then. Good luck to all you new grads!

Good luck luvmylife! I wish I was a nurse tech there too~ :( I don't think I did too well in the interview haha.. I was even answering a question wrong so they had to redirect me back to the question~ ahhh so embarrassing!! Wat was I thinking??? My brain was like a white blank sheet of paper...couldn't think right a few times!! But i hope i didnt do so bad~ There were 5 people in the room~ I hope I make it ;(

Remember what you told me, a lot of people probably feel like they could have done better!! Did they give you an idea of when they would start calling people? I am running out my cell phone battery checking every ten minutes: did they send an email? Maybe a phone call and I didn't hear it? lol UGH:uhoh3:

Good luck to us all!

Loll yeah! But I was soo embarrassed loll!! And nah they didn't say anything~~~ nows the waiting game haha~~ they said its a 1:3 ratio to get chosen. Good luck everyone!!

Jelly221: hey, I tried to send you a PM, but I'm not sure if it actually worked. I just wanted to know if you have any suggestions for getting hired at Torrance for a nurse tech position. I can't seem to find any info and I am really interested. I'm still a student, so I figure it would be a good learning experience for me... please let me know any secrets you can share!

Good luck with the residency! (To everyone! its so competitive out there...)

In order to get hired as a nurse tech you must have 1 year of nursing school left. I graduate in December 2011, but got hired in Dec 2010. There was around 200 applicants and only 3 of us got hired. it was pretty tough. We had panel interviews as well. What I have heard from past Nurse Techs is all of them get hired once they have their RN lic. If you can get in, do so! It is a great learning exp.! Not only do we get to meet the managers that will be interviewing during the versant interviews, but we also get wonderful opps. to help care for patients. I have been on almost every floor. Everyday is always something different. My day is never boring to say the least. If they do have a position open they will post it on the Torrance Memorial website. my advise to you is to get into the float pool. I have several friends who applied for a specific floor and don't have the opps. to see other units, how they work, and get to make friends with leads that could help get into the floor you really want to work on when you graduate.

Specializes in Telemetry.

I just wanted to let everyone know that it has been a rough 4 1/2 month searching for a job as a new grad, today I received a phone call from Torrance Memorial Medical Center that I was selected for their new grad program. I am an external applicant with no prior hospital experience, if anyone eles have been selected let me know

Specializes in CVICU, CCU, SICU, MICU.

Well I just called and found out I didn't get it, and in fact only 3 internals were hired. So good luck to everyone, and congrats Freshnewnurse! Guess that answers the question about Nurse Techs definitely getting hired once we get RN licenses.

For Jelly221: Do they work on Sunday? It sounds like you called yesterday, Sunday, and they answered your call.
